About the School;

The school is an Independent Special Needs School for students aged 11 – 19 years that offers a bespoke service combining Care, Education and Therapeutic – to provide a seamless and focused approach for each individual to Live – Learn – Grow.

The school provide a caring and compassionate environment that can create enriched learning experiences, for young people that have Special Education Needs, based on their strengths, skills and interests.

The School curriculum and rationale works well for each individual because it is highly personalised and based on the principles and aims of the National Curriculum at KS3; KS4 and KS5 levels with the opportunity to gain qualifications and wider achievement awards. The individual timetables, education programmes and student journeys are created around the needs of the young person.

The Student’s learning experiences and outcomes will include a mix of subject-based learning and inter-disciplinary learning. They may learn in small groups, or on their own, and we work to find the personalised approach that works best for each individual.

The school believe all young people have potential and our aim is to unlock that through flexible learning opportunities and motivating experiences. Experience shows that children and young people feel safer when they have stable adult role models and consistent daily routines. The school have a highly qualified staff team, aiming to give young people structure, boundaries and targets, as well as spontaneity and flexibility in their education and through 24-hour learning opportunities.

The Role:

  • Working 1:1 with a KS3 and KS4 Student working at the school in Ormskirk and at an education centre in Preston.
  • Providing a multi-disciplinary approach delivering learning and teaching programmes in Maths, English, Science to both students.
  • It would be helpful if you had understanding of intervention strategies such as MAPA / Proact SCip / Teach / PBS.

About You:

  • You will have either Qualified Teacher Status or Qualified Teacher Learning and Skills Status
  • Have knowledge of the national curriculum and able and willing to teach different subjects such as Maths, English and Science.
  • Be able to adapt lessons to the needs of the students

You will also need:

Resilience – We support some of the most vulnerable children in society who have varying degrees of emotional behavioural difficulties so there will be times where your resilience is challenged.

Communication – Communicating with our young people is vital to understand their needs. Good teamwork and communication plays a key part in ensuring important information is relayed to other staff.

Organisation – You will have experience of organising, planning and teaching well-structured lessons tailored to the needs of the pupils as well as monitoring each students learning needs, adapting teaching to respond to the strengths and needs of each pupil.

Caring – Our young people require the best care we can offer. If you are a naturally caring and compassionate person, this is the role for you.

Attentive – No two tasks will be the same so being attentive to understand the needs of the young people we support is vital
