The Finance Business Partner will be responsible for the production of monthly management accounts, forecasting and budgeting and managing relationships with budget holders and stakeholders.

The role:

  • Monitoring budgets closely; forecasting income, expenditure, and salaries for the college.
  • Managing relationships with stakeholders, partnering with budget holders and managers, setting up proposals for approval where required.
  • Conducting monthly budget review meetings with budget holders and implementing action steps to increase cost-efficiency
  • To lead and oversee the month end closedown process, ensuring the production of timely, accurate and reliable financial information in line with month and year end timetables.
  • Assisting with year end closedown processes, such as production of year end reports and producing paperwork for external audits.
  • To ensure financial month end is closed on an accrual’s basis, producing financial reports and analysing variances, identifying pressures and support the realisation of identified savings.
  • Support with the production of the monthly group finance report.
  • To be responsible for the completion of management accounting financial returns, grant claims, statistical returns and reconciliations.
  • Attending meetings and courses that will benefit the business and your growth as an individual.

Required skills:

  • QBE or part qualified CCAB qualification (CIMA, ACCA, CIMA, ICAEW, CIPFA)
  • An understanding of Public Sector Financial Regulations and Policies and an understanding of wider accounting regulations and principles
  • An understanding of business change principles including a working knowledge of how to effectively manage change and effectively realise benefits.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to build strong relationships with a wide range of stakeholders, internal departments and key contacts.

Hamilton Woods Associates are working with a ‘FTSE 100 Group’ client that need a Qualified Group Statutory Accountant.

The Group Statutory Accountant will be a key member of the Statutory Reporting team designed to provide accurate and timely information internally and externally with responsibility for IFRS 16 reporting in a multinational, FTSE 100 group, including preparation and consolidation of data.


Alongside the accounting of leases, the role will involve the monthly reporting of capital expenditure across the Group, including budget vs actual analysis (pre and post IFRS 16) and statutory reconciliations back to the general ledger.

Key Requirements

  • Preparation of group IFRS 16 numbers on a monthly basis including reconciliations of the IFRS 16 assets, liabilities, and charges.
  • To maintain the IFRS 16 lease models for the UK and Ireland estates (3000+ leases). Responsibilities will include liaising with the property team and divisions to understand the changes, updating the models and preparing the accounting entries.
  • To assist in the preparation of IFRS 16 budgeting, including capex, debt and profit and loss charges.
  • Key point of contact for divisions and external auditors on IFRS 16 related matters.
  • To prepare monthly capital expenditure reports for the Group, involving working with the local divisions to obtain their figures and reconcile the reports to the ledger.
  • To review monthly capital expenditure reports against the budget and provide commentary to support monthly board reporting.
  • To design and implement a monthly group statutory fixed asset note process as part of the wider group consolidation process.
  • Preparation of group tangible and intangible fixed assets notes monthly.

The Statutory, VAT & Reporting Accountant will be responsible for the preparation and the submission of both UK and Overseas legal entity statutory reporting under local GAAP (including but not restricted to IFRS, UK GAAP and Swiss GAAP amongst others) and other regulatory reporting where required locally.

The role will act as a key contact between the business and external authorities and auditors to resolve queries and issues. The role will also act as support and cover for the VAT returns preparation and submission (including corresponding payments to local authorities across the EAME region); related balance sheet account reconciliations (VAT and Current Tax) and monthly intrastats reporting.

Day to Day Responsibilities:

  • Timely preparation and submission of statutory reporting in accordance with local GAAP
  • Key point of contact between the business and local authorities
  • Establish strong relationship with tax team and external tax advisors
  • Managing the relationship with external auditors
  • Timely preparation and submission of VAT returns and corresponding preparation of paperwork for payment
  • Preparation of balance sheet reconciliations to a very high standard
  • Completion of intrastats reporting and other regulatory reporting
  • Supporting the manager with common processes, to drive efficiency and quality improvements within team
  • Supporting the manager and team with other adhoc projects as and when required.

Skills/Qualifications required:

  • A relevant professional accounting qualification (ACCA, CIMA, ACA).
  • Understanding of overseas legislation/ requirements (including international VAT compliance)
  • Technical understanding of local GAAP vs US GAAP
  • Dealing and managing stakeholders remotely (dealing with stakeholders whose first language may not be English)

As Financial Accountant you will be working as part of a dynamic and experienced finance team and responsible for key site operations and reporting for the UK into a US group business

RESPOSIBILIITIES:

  • Preparation/review of balance sheet reconciliations for the UK.
  • Review performance of UK business and understand variances to budget/forecast.
  • General ledger work on different divisions of the business
  • Balance Sheet Reconciliation work.
  • Manage and develop designated areas of Financial Accounting, ensuring tasks critical to these areas are covered daily, weekly, quarterly and on an ad hoc basis as required, and that any relevant reports are produced.
  • Own and develop group policies for the relevant areas and ensure these are adhered to.
  • Ensure any relevant SOX controls are being completed as required and that the business is compliant for designated areas.
  • Work with sites to ensuring that the accountabilities are met.
  • Fixed Asset work including depreciation.

PROFILE:
