Credit Controller / Purchase Ledger Clerk
Reporting directly to Financial Controller, you will be accountable for delivering a robust credit control environment and minimising overdue debt, a critical role in the effective management of working capital.
The role deals with a wide range of customers from large national retailers to small independent restaurants and cafés, so you will need to be adept at dealing with a wide range of customers when managing credit and over-dues. The role also takes on wider responsibilities in the team around invoicing, cash allocation and some accounts payable tasks, so provides a broad involvement in the business. The pace is fast and the job is rewarding – you’ll never be bored!
Key responsibilities:
* Produce weekly debt reports with commentary for review with the Finance Director and Financial Controller
* Chasing up unpaid and overdue invoices, and pro-actively sending statements ahead of key due dates. Escalating as appropriate to manage disputes and resolving issues quickly
* Run daily invoicing for sales
* Entering and applying daily cash receipts from customers
* Answering customer queries on invoicing, deductions and other accounts receivable items
* Investigating debit notes from customers and rejecting / crediting where applicable
* Completing customer account reconciliations
* Running the monthly process for customers that pay by direct debit
* Processing of approved price changes in the system
* Support to cover absence and holiday in accounts payable and credit control
Experience:
* 2+ years of experience in a credit control role, preferably in a medium sized business with a large number of customers to manage
* Confident in working with a wide range of customers, from large national corporate to small independent businesses
* Basic to intermediate knowledge of Excel to include use of standard formulas and manipulating system generated reports for presentation and review
