Estimating Engineer

Salary: £30,000-£45,000 depending on experience
Major Recruitment is recruiting an Estimating Engineer for an engineering business delivering ventilation, air conditioning and general HVAC projects.
This Estimating Engineer opportunity would suit someone with previous HVAC estimating experience, strong product knowledge and a commercial approach to producing competitive quotations.
The role
As an Estimating Engineer, your responsibilities will include:
- Reading and interpreting project specifications, schedules and drawings.
- Preparing estimates for ventilation, air conditioning and general HVAC systems.
- Liaising with clients to finalise design requirements.
- Following up quotations with customers.
- Using component and design selection software.
- Using Ensign take-off and estimating software.
- Analysing costs and identifying value engineering opportunities.
- Reviewing successful quotations and handing projects over to the project delivery team at order stage.
About you
The successful Estimating Engineer will have:
- Previous experience estimating systems within the HVAC market – essential.
- Good knowledge of HVAC products and systems.
- Commercial awareness and the ability to develop competitive pricing.
- Strong client communication skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and a conscientious approach to technical information.
- Good scheduling, time management and organisational skills.
- CAD skills would be an advantage.
The Estimating Engineer will report to the Directors, with the salary and overall package discussed at interview based on previous industry experience.
