Our client is a third-generation family run foodservice company based in Fleetwood, delivering ambient chilled frozen and non-food, with them celebrating their 60th birthday last year, they continue to be successful and grow and our now looking to recruit a Junior Buyer to join their team on a full time, permanent basis.

The purpose of the Junior Buyer role is to assist the Purchasing Manager in stock ordering and replenishment, selecting and purchasing new products, and reviewing existing lines, working with suppliers to create strong working relationships with them, ensuring marketing money is secured from suppliers and ensuring the right products and volumes are stocked at the right time, at the right price.

As a Junior Buyer, your duties will include but will not be limited to;

  • Manage stock control, including stock ordering, stock replenishment and coordinate stock checks as necessary.
  • Review our stock holding for potential additions and deletions.
  • Track purchase orders, delivery dates and incoming deliveries and address any delays, ensuring all purchase orders are received and acknowledged from suppliers.
  • Manage ‘At Risk’ products to minimise business exposure from slow selling lines.
  • Source supplier funding for short, dated stock, slow moving, replacement stock and samples.
  • Creating codes for new products
  • Managing and working with existing and new suppliers to meet customer demand, checking any new suppliers are accredited in line with Company Policy before agreeing to trade.
  • Manage and work with designated suppliers with regards to price negotiations, NPD, promotional planning, product range, new products & de-listed products.
  • Monitor suppliers to ensure contract terms and performance is continued, or improved satisfactory performance levels are achieved.
  • Meet with suppliers on a regular basis and to negotiate local terms per annum.
  • Track and manage national and local supplier terms ensuring all targets are met, where possible.
  • Raise complaints with suppliers for incoming goods where orders are not delivered on time and in full.

Skills and Requirements

  • Reliable, focused, and detailed orientated
  • Someone who can take this role in their stride and put their positive stamp on their supplier portfolio.
  • Capable of working independently, but also part of a team.
  • Someone who is wanting to be a part of a fast-growing business.
  • Purchasing experience ( B2B Preferable )
  • Ability to use Microsoft Packages
  • Ability to build strong relationships.
