Major Recruitment are currently recruiting for a Tool Maker to join a well-established engineering company in Oldbury, West Midlands on a permanent basis.
Reporting into the Technical Manager the role of the Toolmaker is a key role, with the ideal candidate having hands-on experience within a press tool repair and manufacturing environment with the proven ability to work under pressure supporting the day to day production activities, working with a team to provide preventative, breakdown and development activities to support the manufacturing divisions.
Duties & responsibilities of the role:
- Operate standard tool room equipment proficiently, including EDM Wire Eroding machines
- Operate a Forklift Truck to assist with daily duties whilst also enabling tooling to be delivered to production
- Ensure as part of the team, all breakdowns are covered in a timely manner to ensure production downtime is kept to a minimum
- Aim for a “right first time” approach to all work carried out
- Liaise with contractors/suppliers where required and when additional support is needed, including agreeing timescales and costs
- Maintain awareness and ensure full compliance with Health and Safety legislation, housekeeping standards and company rules and procedures
- Seek continuous improvement relating to the business KPI’s and as part of the team, contribute towards improved performance and the overall improvement of the business
Candidate specification:
- Demonstratable experience working in a Tool Maker role
- Well organised, multiskilled, self-motivated and professional
- Good timekeeping and attendances
- Responsible for achieving own key objectives as well as the objectives of the team
- Able to priortise own workload and work to tight deadlines under pressure
- Computer literate and able to communicate and record information effectively
- Attention to detail; accuracy is paramount
- Able to communicate at all levels and have a “can do” attitude
- Able to read engineer drawings
Salary, working hours and benefits:-
- £30,000 per annum dependent on experience
- Hours of work: Monday to Thursday 07:30am to 4:00pmwith half and hour lunch break each day and 07:30am to 12:30pm with no lunch break on Friday of each week – 37 hours in total
