Warehouse Operative – Positions start 22nd August 2022

Major Recruitment Sittingbourne are looking for a number of warehouse operatives for our new client based in Maidstone and are a leading sofa retail specialist in the UK. They design, manufacture, sell, deliver, and install sofas and other upholstered and general furniture products nationally. They are the UK’s largest furniture manufacturer and retailer with over 124 showrooms in the UK, Republic of Ireland, The Netherlands, and Spain

As a Warehouse Operative you will work in the warehouse unloading frames and materials that have been delivered to the factory. You will be responsible for loading delivery vans with furniture to be transported to stores for display or to Distribution centres for delivery to customer’s home.

The right candidate

  • Hard working – You should be willing to go the extra mile for our clients and service users to ensure a positive customer experience
  • Flexible – shift pattern covers seven days, so willingness to work any day is essential
  • Previous manual handling experience – You are preparing sofas to be delivered to customers homes, which come in all shapes and sizes, so you must be able and willing to repeatedly lift heavy sofas. The role will involve prolonged standing
  • Happy to help with other tasks that might not be part of your usual role – Our clients work as one big team, so you will be required to work together to deliver to the customer. Therefore, you may be asked to perform other duties in the warehouse, or there may be opportunity to work as a driver’s mate once established in your role

Shifts

Warehouse Operatives generally operate on a 4-on/4-off rota (subject to change depending on requirement at the time), 7am-7pm with 1 hour break. As such, applicants must be willing to work any day, including weekends and bank holidays, as part of their rolling shift pattern. This is agency work and by it very nature may be temporary. For the right staff long term opportunities are available, but not guaranteed
