Manufacturing Estimator

Major Recruitment are seeking an experienced Estimator to join a reputable, well established, close-knit team based in Nottingham. You’ll be responsible for producing accurate cost estimates and supporting sales and production teams to deliver competitive, profitable quotes.
Key Responsibilities

Review technical drawings and customer specifications

Prepare cost estimates (materials, labour, tooling, overheads)

Liaise with engineering, production, and procurement teams

Source and assess supplier/subcontractor quotes

Support quotations, tenders, and bids
-
Identify cost-saving opportunities and risks
-
Maintain pricing data and cost models
-
Track estimated vs. actual costs to improve accuracy

Contribute to continuous improvement and value engineering
Requirements
-
Experience in estimating within manufacturing/engineering
-
Strong understanding of fabrication, machining, or assembly processes
-
Ability to read technical drawings and BOMs
-
Strong Excel and analytical skills
-
High attention to detail and accuracy
-
Good communication and teamwork skills
Desirable
-
ERP/MRP system experience
-
Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles
