One team. Three mountains. Every type of weather imaginable. Over £2,720 raised for MIND!
If anyone ever tells you recruitment is easy (first of all, when it’s done right it definitely isn’t!), politely point them towards our Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge.
On the 2nd May, a fearless group from the Major family swapped their office chairs, coffee runs, Teams calls and job boards for hiking boots, blister plasters and approximately 24,938 complaints about hills.
Will, Adriana, Amanda, Beata, Eden, Magdalena, Steven, Travis, Chris, Klaudia and Vladislav took on the legendary Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge – one of the UK’s toughest hiking events – all in support of our Charity of the Year, MIND.
And somehow… despite the constant changing weather conditions, unexpected injuries, sickness, aching legs and the occasional emotional stare into the middle distance, the team SMASHED IT.
Together, TEAM MAJOR completed the challenge in the alloted time and raised an incredible £2,720 including gift aid for MIND.
Honestly? Heroes. Slightly sweaty and possibly smelly heroes, but heroes nonetheless!

What is the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge?
For those of you who don’t put themselves through agony on insane walking/climbing challenges, you won’t know what this absolute monster of a challenge is. The Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge involves conquering three peaks (obviously):
- Pen-y-ghent – 694 metres
- Whernside – 736 metres
- Ingleborough – 723 metres
In total that is:
- Around 24 miles
- Over 5,000 feet of climbing
- Must be completed in under 12 hours
- Approximately 73 moments where you question your life choices!
It’s one of the most iconic hiking challenges in the UK and tests endurance, resilience, teamwork and your ability to continue smiling while your knees quietly file a formal complaint.
Naturally, the Major team looked at that and said: “Yeah, go on then.” Well, Will and Amanda did that and then they wrangled a crack team of people together who didn’t know the exact details and heard “a nice walk in the hills for charity”.

Four Seasons in One Day
The Yorkshire weather clearly decided to provide the full premium package.
Thanks to the heights they were climbing, the team experienced Summer sun and Winter chills all within the same 20-minute period!
One minute people were applying sun cream. The next minute everyone was clinging to waterproof jackets like they were competing in Celebrity SAS! If it’s been said once, it’s been said a million times, ‘IT’S ALL ABOUT LAYERS!’
There were moments where morale dipped – “TURN THAT MUSIC OFF ADRIANA!”
There were injuries – “I HEARD IT POP AND THEN I WAS IN PAIN!”
There was sickness – “ARE YOU ALRIGHT CHRIS?”………………………
There were tired legs, and there was definitely at least one point where someone said: “When will this end?!?” But the Major Family spirit kicked in exactly when it needed to.
Nobody got left behind.
Everyone encouraged each other.
Every step became a team effort.
And somehow, fuelled mainly by determination, snacks and absolute pure stubbornness, the team crossed the finish line in time.

Why We Took On the Challenge for MIND
At Major Recruitment, we believe mental health matters.
That’s why we’re incredibly proud to support MIND as our Charity of the Year.
MIND provides advice, support and vital services for people experiencing mental health problems. Every day, they help people facing anxiety, depression, stress, loneliness and countless other challenges feel heard, supported and understood.
Mental health impacts every workplace, every family and every community.
The work MIND does genuinely changes lives.
Knowing that every painful uphill climb was helping raise funds for such an important cause gave the team the motivation to keep pushing forward when things got tough.
Because while sore feet eventually recover… the support charities like MIND provide can have a lasting impact on someone’s life forever.
The Major Team Deserves a Huge Round of Applause
A massive congratulations to Will, Adriana, Amanda, Beata, Eden, Magdalena, Steven, Travis, Chris, Klaudia and Vladislav. You all represented the Major family fantasticly.
- You tackled one of the toughest hiking challenges in the UK.
- You battled through indecisive weather conditions.
- You supported each other through injuries and sickness.
- And you raised an incredible amount of money for charity while doing it.
Not bad for a weekend’s work, we are unbelievably proud of every single one of you.

Teamwork, Resilience and a Lot of Blister Plasters
If there’s one thing the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge proved, it’s that the Major team knows how to pull together. Whether it’s helping candidates find the perfect role, supporting clients, or climbing giant Yorkshire mountains, the same values always shine through:
- Genuine
- Passionate
- Resilient
- Progressive
(And apparently slightly unhinged when charity challenges are involved.) The challenge wasn’t just about reaching the finish line.
It was about supporting one another, digging deep when things got difficult and doing something meaningful together.
That’s what the Major family is all about.
Thank you for your donations!
To everyone who donated, shared posts, supported the team and cheered them on – thank you!
Your support helped raise over £2,720 including gift aid for MIND, and every contribution will help the charity continue its incredible work supporting mental health across the UK.
We genuinely couldn’t have done it without you, if you want to get them to £3,000 their JustGiving page is still open and you can sponsor them here.
What’s Next for Major?
After surviving the Yorkshire Three Peaks, the team are currently recovering through a carefully structured rehabilitation programme involving:
- Sitting down very slowly
- Taking stairs on their bottoms
- TELLING EVERYBODY they completed the Three Peaks!
- Looking at hiking boots with mild resentment
However, the Monday back in work we had a meeting about what we can do next to raise money for MIND. Don’t worry we have lot’s of ideas, but if you have any suggestions please let us know – we love a challenge!
We also have a couple of challenges coming up: Michalina is doing the Great Manchester Run and Amanda is running the Venice Marathon.
Keep your eyes on our blog and socials for what’s coming up! It may get a little hectic, but we wouldn’t have it any other way.
