Position: Production Machine Operative

Shift Pattern: 12-hour shifts, 7:00am to 7:00pm / 7:00pm to 7:00am
Breaks: 1 hour paid break + 30-minute additional discretionary break

About the Role
Major Recruitment is currently recruiting for Production Machine Operatives to join a large drinks manufacturing site in Bradford.
The site produces a range of soft drinks, including Capri-Sun, supplying products across the UK and Europe.
This is a hands-on production role for someone who enjoys working with machinery and wants to develop their skills within a manufacturing environment.
You will be responsible for operating production machinery, checking product quality and making sure the production line runs safely and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
- Set up, operate and monitor production machinery.
- Feed materials into the production line and keep the process running smoothly.
- Monitor machine performance, product quality, waste and production output.
- Carry out regular quality checks and complete the required records.
- Identify and respond to machine jams, faults and material issues.
- Make basic machine adjustments where required after training.
- Support product and machine changeovers.
- Carry out basic machine care and routine checks.
- Follow all food safety, hygiene, health and safety procedures.
- Report hazards, near misses, faults and quality concerns.
- Work closely with engineers and other production team members to resolve issues quickly.
- Complete all required paperwork and electronic records accurately.
- Help reduce waste and improve production performance.
- Take part in continuous improvement activities across the site.
- Develop new skills and support other members of the team.
About You
This role would suit someone who wants to build a career in manufacturing, rather than simply looking for a short-term job.
Ideally, you will have:
- Previous experience in a manufacturing or FMCG environment.
- Experience operating machinery or production equipment.
- An understanding of factory safety and hygiene procedures.
- Good attention to detail and a focus on product quality.
- The ability to work at a fast pace while maintaining high standards.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- A positive attitude towards learning new skills.
- The ability to work independently and use your own initiative.
- An interest in machinery and how production equipment works.
Previous experience in a food or drinks manufacturing environment is desirable but not essential.
Working Hours
The role operates on a 12-hour shift pattern:
- 7:00am to 7:00pm
- 7:00pm to 7:00am
The shift pattern includes a mixture of days and nights.
Each shift includes a 1-hour paid break, plus an additional 30-minute discretionary break.
