Project Assistant

Major Recruitment are currently seeking a Project Assistant to join our well established client based in the Halifax area. You will be responsible for assisting the Contracts Manager to deliver installation projects and you will be reporting directly to the contracts manager

Main duties will include but not limited to

  • Assist with the delivery of major projects through high level project management.
  • Work alongside the contracts manager by being a point of contact for suppliers, clients, and site staff during the project’s duration.
  • Manage and record all project documentation.
  • Help plan projects and ensure they are programmed to a level of detail necessary for the site team to deliver the scheme without any delays.
  • Ensure all procurement for the project is completed.
  • Control and manage all suppliers and their deliveries for each project.
  • Work within your team to prioritize, plan and execute several projects efficiently.
  • Constantly develop cost reduction developments during the project, whilst maintaining product quality and productivity.
  • Attend internal and external project meetings to discuss the progress of active and upcoming projects.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Experienced in the use of Microsoft Excel.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to understand technical drawings and CAD systems (such as AutoCAD & Solid
  • Edge) would be useful.
  • University Degree (minimum of a 2:1 honours degree)
  • Ability to manage their own time and the time of others effectively.
  • Highly motivated

Product Designer

Major Recruitment are currently seekinga product designer for our prestigious client based in the Halifax area where you will be required to assist with the design & product design requirements of our clients customers.

Our client is looking for either a grauduate/trainee product designer or a design manager.

General Duties will include but not limited to

Assist with the Project Group Design services:

  • Product design fitted and loose furniture, across a variety of market sectors.
  • Product design and development.
  • Product testing and technical reviews.
  • Concept design.
  • Product sourcing.
  • Product presentations.
  • Value Engineering and alternate product sourcing.
  • Space planning.
  • Creating Bills of Materials and documentation for pricing.
  • Creating Technical drawings.
  • Assisting with 3d Renders, for products, and interiors.
  • Furniture pack creation.
  • Product costings and working with Estimators/supply chain to establish costs.
  • Client meetings and client facing.
  • Interior product design.
  • Site surveys.

Assist with driving project-based designs:

  • Take a design brief (for a project or product) and be technically knowledgeable and confident to design the ‘product’ from start to finish. Design to suit the brief given:
  • Understand/interpret information provided by the client (internal or external to the business).
  • Understand the Client’s brief and budget.
  • Select items of furniture that the Client will want and can afford.
  • Create new designs that cannot be found.
  • Understand and work to deadlines as the project requires, necessary to deliver a successful ‘product’.
  • Create a good working relationship with Clients.

Skills

  • Ideally degree qualified.

To create &/or find unique and beautiful ‘must have’ products (typically furniture, loose or fitted), that clients want to buy (ideally products that are our designs or exclusive to us).
Collate collections of furniture for Group companies to promote and sell.
Work with supply chain to make/develop products.
Be confident in dealing with suppliers to achieve best pricing.
Find beautiful furniture:
To have a passion for furniture design and design, creativity and innovation in general.
Visit furniture shows throughout the world for inspiration, knowledge, and up-coming trends.
Assess on-line the worldwide supply chain.
Provide commercial & technical documentation as required for items found.
Create a good working relationship with suppliers and manufacturers.
Travel:
Must be able to travel worldwide.
Must be available to travel to Client sites and meetings as required.
Must be able to fly.
Must be able to drive.

Key skills

  • Ability to communicate through hand drawing.

Duties to include but not limited to

  • Interpret the concept designs and assess how best to meet the client’s vision with the materials within the project budget.
  • Understand the limitations of what can be done with the various materials and raise with the design manager accordingly.
  • Produce room models/plans which follow the quotation allowance produced as part of the tender.
  • Produce 3D models efficiently and accurately, to a high level of detail for implementation onto the drawing management library.
  • Produce technical drawings to enable manufacture of the various parts as needed by the projects and maintain the drawing revision history.
  • Update the various drawing management documents to ensure quality control and the project status can be acquired quickly and assessed against deadlines.
  • Produce BOQ’s and high-quality information for ease of procurement.
  • Appreciate the impacts of clash analysis and provide cost effective solutions.
  • Have a good understanding of the software used.
  • Understand committed timescales and communicate effectively with management where required to allow them to be achieved.
  • Interpret information provided by external organisations and communicate any impacts on our own remit

Lead CAD Operator

Major Recruitment Oldbury are delighted to be recruiting for a successful Bilston based organisation who are seeking a Lead CAD Operator to start immediately.

Duties and tasks will include:

  • Create 2D and 3D bathroom drawings.
  • Create 2D work top manufacturing drawings.
  • Design and quote for standard house build room sets, within agreed timeframes.
  • Design and quote for bespoke room sets via Business Development Managers (BDM’s)
  • Responsible for ensuring a build status of all critical drawings is maintained.
  • Attend pre-start contract meetings when required.
  • Contract customer delivery schedules, via plot, added to call off system, action the call off as per customer requests, liaise with site managers regarding delivery dates etc.
