We at Major Recruitment are currently recruiting for an experienced Senior Audio Visual Technician based in Royston with travel within North Hertfordshire.

The Job Overview

This role requires you to be a competent and experienced Senior Audio Visual Technician who is comfortable preparing, operating and maintaining our range of AV equipment.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • On-site support for projects of all sizes – including the technical rig, client liaison, rehearsals, show operation etc.
  • Actively provide training and share knowledge to all colleagues.
  • Represent the company whilst onsite as a point of contact for the client
  • Work with the project management team to determine what is required and how it will be delivered effectively and professionally to fulfil our clients’ requirements.
  • Preparation of equipment prior to dispatch.
  • Assist in planning and pre-event testing (where required) of full AV systems.
  • Occasional delivery and collection of equipment.
  • Dealing with customer dry hire collections and returns
  • Assisting with Management of rental stock.
  • Reporting missing items and damages.
  • Working with the management team to ensure our equipment inventory lists are accurate and kept up to date.
  • Provide technical support to the warehouse team.
  • Maintain company standards and methods when working with freelance crew
  • Simple maintenance and servicing of company equipment.
  • Covering quick turnarounds – evenings and weekends as and when required.
  • Promote the business at all times.

About you

  • Have a passion for all things AV including lighting, sound, video, graphics and IT.
  • Have a minimum of 3 – 5 years’ live events experience as an events technician in the Audio Visual industry
  • Possess a fundamental understanding of audio visual technical equipment and connectivity.
  • Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines
  • Work as part of a team as well as individually.
  • Have excellent planning, organisational and time management skills, while being flexible to the needs of the client and business.
  • Have excellent interpersonal communication skills.
  • Be sufficiently acceptant and mobile to travel as required within the UK, Europe and beyond.
  • Have a “Can Do” Attitude to the work and the workplace.
  • Demonstrate a positive attitude to instruction and learning.
  • Be open to widening your skillsets
  • Be highly motivated and positive, even in adversity.
  • Have a full clean UK driving licence.

Major Recruitment are searching for a Product Inspection Operative for our client based in Wallsend. This vacancy is initially for 6 months but can lead to a full-time and permanent position for the right candidate.

Duties include:

  • Comparing manufactured products with technical drawings to check for defects, missing components, incorrect dimensions etc.
  • Reporting defects to other departments and agreeing corrective action
  • Completing relevant paperwork and quality reports
  • Contributing to improvement of current work practices
  • Liaising with other teams and departments to investigate and resolve defects

Hours of work and pay rate:

  • Monday to Thursday, 07:00am/ 07:30am till 16:00/ 16:30pm
  • Friday 07:00/ 07:30am till 11:30am/ 12:00pm
  • Candidates can choose which pattern they prefer
  • 37.5 hours per week
  • £13.07 per hour
  • Overtime available as and when business needs require, x1.5 for any hours over 37.5 – £19.60

My client are seeking an experienced and adaptable Test Development Engineer to join their team in Northampton. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in Systems/Circuit design, management, and software development, with a focus on testing Electronic Power Control Units for the Aerospace industry.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and introduce ATE Test Systems, particularly NI PXI based production (NPI) test equipment for Electronic Power Control Units, incorporating Mil Std., ARINC 429, CAN Bus, RS422, RS232, JTAG, and other high-speed logic.
  • Compile top-level scripts and lower-level LabVIEW drivers, NI TestStand, and ensure traceability via DOOR and Technical Requirements/Compliance Matrix.
  • Qualification testing, validation, and verification of safety-critical product designs, including hydraulic and mechanical elements.
  • Set up Electro-Mechanical, Hydraulic Systems, and perform electrical validation of LRUs.
  • Develop and maintain automated test setups for product-specific lab tests.
  • Design, develop, and commission test equipment for specific programs and other projects, adhering to industry standards and specifications.

Key Skills:

  • Extensive experience in ATE Test Systems Design, Development, and Introduction.
  • Proficient in LabVIEW, NI TestStand, and other relevant tools.
  • Experience in Electro-Mechanical and Hydraulic Systems setup.
  • Strong background in RF test equipment (2-18 GHz), Spectrum & Network Analyzers, Signal Generators, etc.
  • Familiarity with EMC testing and problem-solving techniques.
  • Management and planning skills, including cost estimation and expenditure control.
  • Expertise in electronics systems/circuit design, including LF & HF Analogue and Medium-Speed Digital design.

Embedded Systems Engineer

An Embedded Systems Engineer with good embedded C and Simulink skills is sought by a national engineering company in the Tyneside area: –

Working in a focused R&D environment you will be responsible for developing embedded software and firmware for energy storage systems

Key tasks will include
