Maintenance Electrician

Major Recruitment are seeking a dedicated Maintenance Electrician for our longstanding client, a leading family-run food production business with a rich 190-year legacy, this is a fantastic opportunity for the right person.

The ideal candidate will be time served NVQ level 3 and hold the 18th edition, with C&G 2391 Inspection and Testing qualifications being an advantage but not essential.

The role will involve working on single / three phase systems such as installation of machinery and lighting also maintenance / repairs and testing of Emergency lighting, lighting, Switch gear, Fire alarms, Portable Appliance Testing, Air conditioning and Roller shutter / rapid doors.

Must be conversant with SWA, FP 200, trunking, metal / plastic conduits, cable tray etc. Knowledge of general building repairs would be an advantage.

Stores controller

Major Recruitment are currently seeking a detail-oriented and organised individual to join our team as a Stores Controller. This position plays a crucial role in ensuring the efficient flow of goods into our inventory system, contributing to the overall success of our operations.


  • Maintain stores area and workshop stock systems in an efficient and orderly condition, including reporting of maintenance issues.
  • Control the effective and efficient processing of works orders through stores.
  • Counting, labelling and storing accurately


Goods Receiving & storing:

  • Receive incoming goods and verify the accuracy of shipments against packing lists and purchase orders, reporting any issues found
  • Record and update inventory data in our MRP system and scanning all paperwork
  • Organise, label and store accurately received goods in designated locations within the warehouse
  • Maintain accurate fault-finding reporting for faulty/incorrect/shortages on goods
  • Maintain accurate stock figures – examine and identify reasons for shortages and make necessary adjustments
  • Notification and adjustment of stock figures for stock outs either from kitting or as advised by workshop support
  • Full control of replenishment of shop floor parts
  • Eliminate unauthorised access to stores in order to retain stock integrity
  • Correct handling procedures to comply with H&S and specialist parts

Picking & Kitting:

  • Retrieve items from designated storage areas based on digital picking lists
  • Accurate assembly of kits ready for production, control status of paperwork and stock issue procedures
  • Notification and control of shortages, including accurate maintenance of stock figures

Salary & benefits:

Starting salary: NLW/NMW with 3 month probationary review

Fully trained/Skilled: £11.88ph

After passing the 3 month probationary period you will join the performance bonus scheme and with zero absence and the team/business hitting overall monthly targets there is potential to share profit related bonus.

  • Full time role: 38 Hours 08.30 to 16.26 Monday to Friday, 20 minute lunch break 12.00 to 12.20
  • Holiday: 28 days pa, which includes bank holiday and Christmas shutdown.
  • Potential attendance bonus of up to 1 extra week can be accrued for the following year, if zero absences are posted on a quarterly basis. 1 per quarter plus an extra bonus day if all 4 quarters free of absence.

Electronics Repair Technician

An Electronics Repair Technician is needed to work in a busy repair workshop.

You will be responsible for ensuring that the repair & return of products are processed and achieved in line with the company policies, procedures and quality system.

Main Responsibilities:
* Ensure all returns and repairs are booked into the department in a timely manner and are stored correctly.
* Fault find and diagnose faults on suspected faulty electronic products (to component level).
* Ensure that returned products are tested, repaired and assembled as per the company quality system.
* Ensure that all company documentation and records are completed as required.
* Follow company policies, procedures, instructions and standards for repairs.
* Liaise with Customers where necessary regarding returned product.
* Report and help the relevant management concerning product quality issues.

The successful candidate will have some experience of electronics repair and be able to follow a circuit diagrams and fault find (to component level) and have good communication skills (both verbal and written). Excellent level of soldering skills is needed as is experience of electronic testing and basic computer skills.

Electronics Technical Support Engineer

A Technical Support Engineer with a background in Electronics and experience with AutoCAD and wiring diagrams is sought by a busy Tyneside based company

Working within a busy technical support team you will have the following responsibilities: –

  • Providing customers with technical support on installation, programming and fault finding of electronic products.
  • Creating, editing and production of technical documents and wiring diagrams for both external and internal use.
  • Check customer’s orders and ensure that the products specified are correct and will work correctly as a system.
  • Inform the customer or the relevant personnel over any concerns regarding customers’ orders
  • Produce wiring diagrams and product drawings using CAD and technical documents to accompany customers’ orders
  • Support other departments within the company on technical and quality issues
  • Ensure all drawings and technical documents are produced to company standards as per the Quality System
  • Ensure all technical records are maintained.
  • Carry out site visits as and when required.
  • Assist the companies R&D department in the development of new product.

To succeed in this role you will need some of the following skills and personal qualities

  • Electronics / IT support Background.
  • Ability to understand wiring diagrams and communicate complex solutions in layman’s terms
  • Experience of using basic test equipment such as multimeters and oscilloscopes
  • Good communication skills with the ability to be patient and calm under pressure.
  • Good level of computer literacy.
  • Fault Finding Experience with methodical approach to resolving problems.

Junior Electronics Design Engineer

A Junior Electronics Design Engineer is sought by an established engineering company to join their R&D team.

Working in a busy design and development team you will be responsible for providing PCB designs and manufacturing information and modifying existing designs in line with engineering change processes. You will also evaluate the processes involved with PCB design with an emphasis on value engineering and work with the design team to ensure the seamless integration of finished PCB’s into the completed electronics design. You will also liaise with suppliers to ensure that PCB requirements are met and analyse the PCB process to see where cost savings can be achieved without compromising quality

The ideal candidate will be HND or Degree qualified with 1-2 years PCB design preferable. Any experience of using software for PCB layout or schematic capture is an advantage. Godo communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate well with Design, Project and Manufacturing teams is essential

This is a junior position that would suit a fresh graduate in electronics engineering who has an understanding of, or interest in, electrical / electronics functionality
