Job Title: Skilled Merchandiser

Reports To: Merchandising Manager/Store Manager

Job Purpose

To maximise sales and profitability by ensuring products are attractively displayed, stocked, and promoted in line with company standards and customer expectations. The Skilled Merchandiser will play a critical role in enhancing the shopping experience by maintaining visual appeal and ensuring product availability.

Key Responsibilities

Product Presentation

    • Design and implement attractive product displays to enhance the visual appeal and encourage customer purchases.
    • Ensure that products are displayed in accordance with brand guidelines and promotional activities.
    • Regularly update displays to reflect seasonal trends, promotional campaigns, and new product launches.

Inventory Management

    • Monitor inventory levels and ensure that shelves are adequately stocked at all times.
    • Coordinate with the stockroom team to manage product replenishments and avoid stockouts.
    • Conduct regular inventory checks and report any discrepancies or issues.

Sales Analysis

    • Analyse sales data and customer feedback to identify trends and adjust merchandising strategies accordingly.
    • Collaborate with the sales and marketing teams to develop and implement merchandising plans that align with sales goals.
    • Provide insights and recommendations for product placement and promotional activities to drive sales.

Store Layout and Planograms

    • Implement and maintain store layouts and planograms to optimize product placement and customer flow.
    • Ensure that planograms are accurately followed and updated as needed.
    • Work closely with the visual merchandising team to create cohesive and effective displays.

Customer Engagement

    • Interact with customers to understand their needs and preferences, providing product recommendations and information.
    • Assist customers with product inquiries and help create a positive shopping experience.
    • Gather customer feedback to inform merchandising decisions and improve service quality.

Compliance and Standards

    • Ensure that all merchandising activities comply with company policies, health and safety regulations, and industry standards.
    • Maintain a clean and organized work environment, ensuring that displays and product areas are tidy and accessible.
    • Conduct regular audits to ensure compliance with merchandising standards and identify areas for improvement.

Qualifications and Skills

Education: High school diploma or equivalent; a degree in marketing, business, or a related field is a plus.

Experience

Minimum of 2 years of experience in a merchandising role within the retail industry.

Proven track record of creating effective product displays and driving sales through merchandising efforts.

Creative Skills: Excellent creativity and an eye for detail to design appealing product displays.

Analytical Skills: Ability to analyse sales data and customer feedback to inform merchandising strategies.

Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills to interact with customers, team members, and stakeholders.
