Job description/responsibilities

  • To work as part of the production and manufacturing team.

Key Responsibilities:

· Management Accounts: Develop UK management reporting information and assist with Group reporting.

· Overview of data input on sales & purchase invoices

· Bank: Input payments for authorisation process & reconcile cashbook transactions. Monitor and forecast cash flow.

· Nominal: – Post journals for accruals, prepayments, payroll etc. and reconcile balance sheet accounts at month end.

· P&L: – Perform accounts analysis and produce key indicators.

· Payroll: Assist with data preparation.

· Internal audit: Support group process

· Close cooperation with the Manager of Finance & Control, including cover where required.

· Carry out any ad-hoc tasks that contribute to the success of the team

Work Experience and Qualifications:

· Accounting qualification ACA/ACCA preferred

· Three years’ experience of management accounting role or from a practice background

· A good understanding of management accounts reporting

· Comfortable working independently under own initiative

· Good working knowledge of excel spreadsheets

· Experience of SAGE 200/Sage 50 & One Stream is an advantage but not essential

Group Accountant

Hamilton Woods Associates are working with a client based in Burton on Trent that are expanding within their broad finance team. The Group Accountant works across multiple disciplines and functions and suits a 1st time mover from practice.

The Group Accountant prepares information for the group on a weekly and monthly basis. They assist the Financial Reporting Manager’s and other non-financial managers in carrying out their responsibilities.

Duties & Responsibilities:

* The production of year-end statutory accounts for the consolidated UK group of companies, including preparing the accounts of several subsidiary entities.

* Production of periodic consolidation for the UK group for inclusion in the board pack

* Main contact at group for technical financial reporting advise

* Creation of accounting memos over judgemental or unusual items for review by senior management

* Ownership of the IFRS 16 accounting, including booking periodic adjustments and ensuring all lease variations are appropriately accounted for

* Creation and ownership of the group controls matrix and accounting manual to ensure group policies are appropriately applied

* Production of annual corporation tax computations

* Complete periodic balance sheet reconciliations, including production of their own area and the review of reconciliations produced from other accounting teams to ensure timely and accurate financial information is recorded in the ledger

* Liaising with external auditors to ensure smooth audit of year end accounts

Required skills:

* Qualified Accountant preferably ACA, ICAEW or equivalent with a demonstrable history of technical accounting experience

* Ability to communicate clearly and concisely with all levels of the organisation (on the telephone and in writing)

* Ability to build rapport and develop key relationships

* Experience of Microsoft Dynamics NAV is desirable but not required

Financial Reporting Accountant

Hamilton Woods Associates are working with an American-owned, FSTE 100 listed client based in Staffordshire that are expanding within their broad finance team. The Financial Reporting Accountant works across multiple disciplines and functions due to the nature of this multi-faceted business.

As the Financial Reporting Accountant, you will work closely with the Group Financial Reporting Manager on the maintenance of the Group consolidation system. The role is responsible for the timely and accurate preparation of key deliverables, including monthly reconciliations, quarterly Group reporting submissions and US statistical returns.

Day to Day Responsibilities:

· Responsible for the preparation of relevant areas of the Group’s quarterly HFM reporting submissions.

· Responsible for the completion of US statistical returns.

· Responsible for Sarbanes-Oxley compliance in relevant areas.

· Responsible for maintaining appropriate records suitable for research and audit.

· Responsible for making decisions regarding the prioritisation of work and for identifying opportunities for improvement.

· Review and understand trial balances extracted from PeopleSoft through enquiry and challenge of unusual and unexpected items.

· Completion of monthly account reconciliations for a number of Peoplesoft general ledger balance sheet account codes.

· Preparation of quarterly and year end Oracle HFM reporting submissions to the Group consolidation team in accordance with agreed deadlines.

· Assist with maintenance of the Group consolidation system (Oracle HFM) to ensure system data, security and mapping are appropriate.

· Prepare and file US statistical returns as required.

· Participate in projects and complete ad hoc tasks, as and when required.

Skills/Qualifications required:

· AAT Qualified (Preferably working towards an Accounting qualification

· Minimum 2+ years’ experience in a financial reporting environment, either within the accountancy profession or in industry. Experience of producing financial statements under IFRS preferred. Exposure to the challenges of working in a global organisation preferred. PeopleSoft and Oracle HFM experience an advantage.

· Knowledge of IFRS

· Proficiency in PeopleSoft, Oracle HFM and Microsoft Office products

· Ability to develop and maintain working partnerships in a global organization

· Flexible and able to respond to short deadlines

· Demonstrates clear, concise and succinct communication skills including adapting both verbal and written communication to the needs and level of the user

· Good analytical and problem-solving skills

· Ability to work independently and within a team
