The Role

As part of the workshop team, you will be responsible for fault-finding, repairs and maintenance of a wide range of electrical and mechanical equipment, including:

  • 110V and cordless power tools
    * Site equipment
    * Petrol and 2-stroke equipment
    * Diesel plant
    * Air tools
    * Hydraulic equipment
    * Mechanical equipment

About You

You will have previous experience working with mechanical and/or electrical equipment, including diesel, petrol, hydraulics, pneumatics or electrics, or have recently completed a relevant apprenticeship in a mechanical or electrical discipline.

Experience may also include plant, power tools, powered access, generators, pumps, lifting equipment, or similar mechanical environments.

You will also bring:
* A strong work ethic with honesty and integrity
* A practical, problem-solving approach
* Good attention to detail and ability to multi-task
* A positive attitude and sense of humour
* Strong organisation and reliability

Hours

Monday-Friday, 7:30am-5:00pm

Salary

£30,000 – £45,000 per annum (DOE)

Hire Desk Manager

A well-established independent tool hire company is seeking a Hire Desk Manager to join its Croydon depot.

This is an excellent opportunity for an organised, customer-focused professional with experience in tool hire, plant hire, construction supply, or logistics, who is looking to take the next step in a fast-paced and supportive environment.

The Hire Desk Manager will be responsible for the smooth day-to-day running of the hire desk, ensuring efficient coordination of equipment, accurate administration, and a consistently high level of customer service.

Working closely with the General Manager and depot team, the successful candidate will play a key role in managing hire activity, supporting operations, and acting as a main point of contact for the depot when required.

This is a hands-on and varied role requiring strong communication, organisation, and the ability to work well under pressure. Monday-Friday working hours (7:30am-5:00pm)

Requirements for the role

  • Proven experience in a depot or branch environment (tool hire, plant hire, access, construction supply, or logistics preferred)
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with confidence dealing with customers and colleagues
  • Excellent organisational and administrative ability with strong attention to detail
  • Customer-focused, professional approach with a positive attitude
  • Good IT skills
  • Proactive problem-solver with the ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment
  • Team player with a willingness to support wider depot operations
