An exciting opportunity is available for an Accounts Assistant to join a supportive and growing team. You’ll work with a varied portfolio of SME clients while developing your technical skills and building strong client relationships.

The Role

  • Work with a varied range of SME clients
  • Prepare accounts for limited companies, LLPs, partnerships and sole traders
  • Prepare management accounts
  • Prepare corporate and personal tax returns
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of accounting standards
  • Communicate with clients and HMRC
  • Liaise with colleagues to provide a coordinated service
  • Maintain regular client contact and deliver a proactive service

About You

  • At least 2 years’ experience in an accounting practice
  • Experience preparing FRS102 Section 1A company accounts, partnership and sole trader accounts
  • Part-qualified or qualified by experience
  • Corporation and personal tax experience is desirable
  • Strong technical and IT skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Able to work independently and meet deadlines
  • Organised, adaptable and commercially minded
  • A strong team player with a commitment to excellent client service

Engineering Manager

Major Recruitment have partnered up with a well-established engineering business near Edinburgh that specialise in the installation, maintenance and repair of pumping systems across the commercial, industrial and water sectors. They are seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to lead their engineering and service operation.

This is a great opportunity for an experienced Engineering or Service Manager with a strong mechanical background and previous experience leading engineering teams within a service environment to join a fast growing UK business.

You will be responsible for managing a team of field service engineers and workshop personnel, ensuring works are planned effectively, completed safely and delivered to the highest standard. You’ll oversee reactive breakdowns, planned maintenance, installations, engineer utilisation, customer relationships and day-to-day operational performance.

About You

  • Managing field service engineers and/or workshop teams.
  • Pump systems, water or wastewater engineering.
  • Planned and reactive maintenance.
  • Customer-facing engineering service delivery.
  • Strong organisational, planning and leadership skills.

Required Experience

  • Sewage pumping stations.
  • Booster sets.
  • HVAC circulating pumps.
  • Thermal expansion and pressurisation systems.
  • Wastewater treatment works.
  • Confined space working.
  • Scottish Water or water utility projects.
