Technical Finishing Operative

We are currently looking to recruit on behalf of our client based in Rotherham (S60) for a Technical Finishing Operative.

Salary: £25,600 (An extra 25% shift allowance on afternoon shift)

Shift Pattern:
Monday – Thursday 6am -2pm / 2pm – 10pm
Friday 5am -1pm / 1pm – 9pm. – rotating
*A night shift will be coming but not for 6 months*

Role Duties:

  • Upgrading castings in both Non-Ferrous and Ferrous alloys, ensuring they meet specified requirements.
  • Working with precision to achieve tight tolerances and strictly adhering to quality procedures.
  • Removing ceramic mould material from castings.
  • Utilising hand tools such as grinders, burrs, and abrasive belts to eliminate metal running, feeding, and gating systems.
  • Preparing castings for the welding process to ensure readiness.
  • Dressing castings to meet drawing tolerance and profile specifications.
  • Proficiently using measurement tools such as verniers, calliper’s, micrometers, and depth gauges.
  • Undertaking additional responsibilities as necessary, beyond those listed above.
  • Proven experience as a Finishing Operative or in a similar role within the casting industry.

Bonus Scheme

All staff members will get a bonus 25% of profit paid 3 months in arrears, paid every month.

Holidays 22 days per year, plus 1 additional day for each year of service up to 5 years, plus bank holidays.

Responsibilities

  • Support the centre Manager in day-to-day management and operations of the Family Assessment Centre – Maintaining a compliant, safe and homely environment
  • Support parents to reach their full potential in caring for their children
  • Safeguard children and parents through assessment, planning, and reviews
  • Provide leadership, guidance and support to the Staff Team
  • Contribute to the recruitment, training, and development of staff, identifying training needs and opportunities for professional growth.
  • Act as a role model and mentor to staff, demonstrating professionalism, integrity, and a commitment to the highest standards of care and ethical practice.
  • Leadership & Accountability: Serve as the Deputy Manager, taking legal responsibility for the service and acting as part of the senior professionals within the team.
  • High-Quality Family Support: Ensure families receive the best care, meeting all their needs and helping them achieve their full potential.
  • Safeguarding & Risk Management: Help to lead in safeguarding efforts, ensuring all vulnerable individuals are protected and conducting regular risk assessments.
  • Placement & Record Management: Help to oversee placement plans, admissions, discharges, and ensure accurate, detailed record-keeping.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with social workers, health professionals, local authorities, and the Therapeutic Team to provide holistic support for families.
  • Reporting & Court Attendance: Help to supervise report writing and attend court to provide evidence when necessary.
  • Health & Welfare: Promote the health and welfare of families, ensuring all needs are met in a safe, homely environment.
  • Open Culture & Communication: Foster an open, supportive environment for residents and ensure effective communication within the team.

Requirements

  • Hold a Level 3 in Children and Young Peoples Workforce Diploma (or equivalent)
  • Either hold or be committed to completing Level 5 diploma in Leadership and Management for health & social care children & young people services
  • Minimum two years’ experience working in social care
  • Experience leading and motivating a staff team
  • Knowledge of legislation and Ofsted requirements
  • Flexible and willing to go the extra mile
