Testing Operator/General Operative

Major Recruitment are currently working with a leading international automotive manufacturing business based in Baildon/Shipley, who are looking for reliable General Operatives / Wet Test Operators to join their busy factory team.

This is a long-term ongoing opportunity with the potential to progress into a permanent position.

The Role

Working within a busy factory environment, you will primarily be responsible for wet testing manufactured components for leaks. This involves immersing components in water and checking for air bubbles or other signs of leakage.

The role is hands-on and physically demanding, involving heavy lifting, repetitive tasks and standing for long periods. You will also be required to support other departments and assist with general operative duties when needed.

Key Duties

  • Carry out wet leak testing and inspect components for defects.
  • Handle and move potentially heavy parts safely.
  • Carry out repetitive production and general operative tasks.
  • Assist other departments when required.
  • Follow manufacturing, quality and health & safety procedures.
  • Maintain a clean and safe working environment.

Previous manufacturing, production or warehouse experience is beneficial, although full training will be provided. The ideal candidate will be reliable, physically fit, hardworking and comfortable working as part of a team.

Working Hours

The role operates on a weekly rotating shift pattern:

Week 1: Monday-Thursday 6:00am-2:00pm, Friday 6:00am-11:00am.

Week 2: Monday-Thursday 2:00pm-10:00pm, Friday 11:00am-4:00pm.

Overtime is available depending on production requirements.

Good Inwards Inspector

Major Recruitment Huddersfield are currently seeking a good in inspector for our prestigious client based in Shipley, West Yorkshire.

This position is for a Goods Inwards inspector, requiring the holder to take responsibility for multiple aspects of maintaining and monitoring incoming part inspection and quality assurance.

A goods inwards inspector is expected to have a strong knowledge of relevant Quality standards and procedures. They are also expected to be able to competently read an engineering drawing. Goods Inwards inspector should have a strong grasp over multiple measurement techniques and be able to use their knowledge and experience to devise the most suitable way to measure incoming parts. Ideally, prior experience of CMM programming and operation is desired, however training will be given on this.

Key duties include inspection of incoming parts when required by audit schedules, recording inspection results and maintaining of Goods Inwards systems/databases; programming of the CMM given an engineering drawing; reporting of inspection results to relevant stakeholders and supporting the Quality department with other quality related activities.

Reporting to the Quality Manager, this role will be responsible for supporting Quality Engineers and Technicians in ensuring incoming parts are of a high quality.

Key Responsibilities

  • Programming of CMM based on engineering drawings and incoming requests (training to be provided).
  • Utilising manual measurement techniques (height gauge, vernier calliper, Micrometer etc.) to complete measurement requests.
  • Ensuring all measurement reports are reported as per the drawing/request.
  • Maintaining of Goods Inwards systems/databases (METRO, component history etc.
  • Managing of CIGMA MRP system to ensure parts are booked into the system correctly and ensuring Quality Control locks are in place where necessary.
  • Conducting incoming part inspection based on available audit schedules.
  • Conducting quality inspection on current stock when Quality issues are reported.
  • Assisting quality inspectors/engineers with investigations into quality concerns

Skills

  • Attention to detail, with the ability to detect subtle differences and ensure precision.
  • Knowledge of parts and components to understand and interpret standards and drawings.
  • Good use of measuring equipment. Skilled in precision measuring and an understanding of factors that can affect measurement.
  • A problem-solver able to identity, analyze and resolve potential quality issues.
  • Good at keeping track of their own activities in a logical way.
  • Motivated to make a difference in a challenging and dynamic production environment.
  • Computer skills would be of benefit including Microsoft Office, MS-team, SharePoint, and Email.
  • A strong-willed individual who understands why their role is important to the company.
  • Ability to understand and Interpret drawings and Geometric Tolerancing
