SCADA Project Engineer

A Project Engineer with experience of delivering SCADA / Control Systems solutions is sought by a Tyneside Engineering business for a 6 month contract

Working in a Projects team you will be responsible for managing the design, integration, testing and commissioning of automation projects throughout the entire project life-cycle.

The role will involve interpreting clients’ requirements, to design, engineer, integrate, test, and deliver the solution in a professional and timely manner, interfacing with customers on all technical elements and schedules and engaging with subcontractors and external suppliers for the delivery of projects.

Key responsibilities will be to: –

  • Designing, installation, commissioning, and maintenance of PLC, SCADA, and HMI systems in automation projects.
  • Produce specifications / drawings and agree with customers.
  • Integrate and configure software, hardware, communications, and external devices.
  • Drive projects to achieve an “on-time” project delivery, within budget.
  • Project engineering, configuration, integration, and test.
  • Assist in the preparation and approvals of bills of materials and manufacturing drawings and where necessary interface with suppliers.
  • Prepare project documentation such as design specifications, factory acceptance tests, site acceptance tests and operation and maintenance manuals.
  • Participate in project meetings and assist in the scheduling of activities.
  • Undertake FAT, SAT, site installation and commissioning activities where necessary.

To succeed in this varied and interesting role you will need the following skills, experience and personal qualities

  • ONC/HNC in Electrical / Electronic / Software Engineering or related subject
  • Proven track record of delivering projects, preferably within SCADA and Automation sectors; ideally within the LV/MV/HV Electricity Transmission & Distribution Industry.
  • Knowledge of communications systems and SCADA protocols such as Modbus, DNP, and IEC 61850.
  • Experience of implementation using PLC logic.
  • Experience of configuration of HMI software
  • Ability to work independently and within a small team environment.
  • Excellent internal and external communication skills
  • Exceptional attention to detail.
  • Be willing to travel for site testing and commissioning work when required.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Can-do’ attitude – enthusiastic and willing to learn.

Electrical Test & Commissioning Engineer

This role would suit an experienced test or commissioning engineer who enjoys variety and can apply engineering principles to solve technical solutions. Your main responsibilities will include: –

* Responsible and accountable for safe and successful testing of electrical panels and control systems
* Correct interpretation of customer requirements/specification/designs/drawings
* Communicating with wireman, engineers and customers throughout the testing or commissioning phase
* Quality assure your work as you go
* Creating detailed mark-ups and snag list for resolution
* Contribute to the continuous improvement cycle with your expertise and experience.
* Undertake site installations, commissioning, FAT, SAT etc. as required.
* Creation of reports, technical documentation, and certifications (as required)
* Managing and prioritising own workload to meet deadlines and company requirements.
* Responsible for keeping own knowledge and skills up to date and relevant.

This is a Permanent, full-time role that is 80% factory/office based and 20% site based (installs, commissioning etc.) Core hours: Monday-Friday (37hr week) – 07:30-16:00 Mon-Thurs. 07:30-12:30 Friday

The successful candidate will have 3 years Electrical Test & Commissioning experience with a good knowledge of industrial control panels. You will need experience of machinery control systems understanding and experience with PLC software (loading, commissioning, minor changes). You will need some proficiency with 2D Electrical CAD system with panel wiring or site installation experience an advantage.

You will need to be suitably qualified in electrical engineering and test, be IT literate, have good problem-solving skills and have a strong attention to detail.

Mechanical Building Services Design Engineer

A Design Engineer with strong Revit skills is needed by a busy Engineering company in Suffolk

Working within a busy Design team you will be producing 3D models of building layouts including congested void spaces, utility runs and other spatially planned areas of concept layouts. You will also produce 2D drawings using AutoCAD and Revit to RIBA standards for a variety of client projects including General Arrangements, Elevations, Sectional Plans, and additional layouts. You will also review and deliver design elements outlined in commercial proposals, ensuring all designs / documents correlate accurately, drawings match Proposal, FDS, MRS, Registers and highlight deviations You will ensure that all work produced applying the correct design principles and Level of Detail, using appropriate drawing standards and design principles.

You will work closely with the Commercial department to produce early-stage concept design, identify any potential issues with designs where they deviate from design principles or

present technical challenges and overcoming with solution focussed approach. You will also carry out Lighting & Structural Calculations, carry out site surveys gain design insights & to improve drawing compilation accuraby, attend client meetings and ensure detailed notes are taken to ensure all design changes and requests are all captured and implemented in next stage of design.

KEY SKILLS

You will need a solid background in AutoCAD drawing production for a construction or a manufacturing company with at least 3 years’ experience. You will ideally have experience in 3D design production either with Solidworks or another similar 3D software. Any experience of using Revit would be ideal.

Duties and tasks will include:

  • Create 2D and 3D bathroom drawings.
  • Create 2D work top manufacturing drawings.
  • Design and quote for standard house build room sets, within agreed timeframes.
  • Design and quote for bespoke room sets via Business Development Managers (BDM’s)
  • Responsible for ensuring a build status of all critical drawings is maintained.
  • Attend pre-start contract meetings when required.
  • Contract customer delivery schedules, via plot, added to call off system, action the call off as per customer requests, liaise with site managers regarding delivery dates etc.

A Mechanical Design Engineer with good 3D CAD skills is needed to work for a busy Engineering company in the Newcastle area

Working in a small design team you will provide full mechanically engineered design solutions for a variety of projects, utilising the company MRP system to create accurate BOM’s. You will work with design manager to develop mechanical design concepts for all projects on bespoke fabrication projects. You will also support the project managers and the factory with client technical queries and project completion, managing equipment through the full cycle from the initial design stage to manufacture, client interface and finally delivery. You will also monitor the progress of all undertaken mechanical designs by holding regular design reviews with the aim to speed up product introduction and reduce the cost of change-RFC’s. You will also ensure mechanical design solutions are viable and cost effective, utilising all available manufacturing methods

You will also be responsible for the production of accurate applicable manufacturing drawings for all applicable parts (including change control) to allow operations to complete fabrication and assembly of equipment. This will include but not be limited to component, sub assembly and general arrangement drawings including complete parts lists where applicable, and all specific manufacturing data.

KEY SKILLS

The ideal candidate will have a HNC in Mechanical Engineering or similar discipline and experience of mechanical design of complete machinery, fabrications and assemblies. You will need good 3D CAD skills, preferable Inventor and AutoCAD and be able to transfer 3D CAD data into 2D drawing packs and standardise the formats

You will need to be adaptable, be able to communicate well across departments and work with minimum supervision to agreed timescales. You will have an innovative approach to mechanical design, demonstrate good mechanical engineering knowledge, have good attention to detail and ability to complete fully assigned tasks. You will also need to be able to communicate will with customers and suppliers and be proficient with MRP systems and MS Office
