Electrical Site Services Engineer

An experienced Electrical Engineer with good customer-facing skills is sought as a Site Services Engineer to deliver after-sales, maintenance contracts and customer services on a range of Transformers & Switchgear department. The role primarily is visiting customer sites and conducting the repair, maintenance and upgrade of customer private networks and their assets.

YOUR NEW JOB

  • Assembling distribution transformers and associated items (LV/HV switch, Ring Main Units etc) on site installations.
  • Fault finding and resolving after care services and warranty issues with the equipment.
  • Completing maintenance activity for both supplied equipment and customers own HV & LV networks and assets.
  • Basic site testing requirements of equipment, ensure adherence to standards and ensure safe operation of all devices.
  • Breakdown support to Customers as required
  • Taking transformer oil samples and arranging analysis.
  • Work and collaborate alongside other contractors whilst on site.
  • Completing site reports for work conducted and identifying any further recommendations.
  • Ensuring method and risk assessments are completed and followed as necessary

YOUR SKILLS

  • ONC/ HNC or similar qualification in Electrical Engineering
  • Ability to work on their own initiative and as part of a small busy team
  • Previous history within the Transformer/ HV, LV switchgear/ HV contracting industry
  • Self motivated, conscientious and enthusiastic
  • Candidates should be highly computer literate with excellent communication skills both in written and verbal format, able to write comprehensive emails, quotations and reports.
  • Keen, flexible, adaptable with a positive attitude
  • Full UK Driving Licence
  • Good level of IT literacy

Working within a busy purchasing team you will be responsible for the timely order placement, supply and expedition of raw materials, assemblies, and support services to maintain production at and manage select suppliers to ensure on time delivery while managing inventory levels to prevent shortages and maximize turns. You will also liaise with Engineering, Planning, Sales, and Manufacturing disciplines with a key focus on environmental and ethical trading considerations.

Key responsibilities will include: –

  • Analyse exception messages from ERP system
  • Place purchase orders ensuring cost effective timely delivery.
  • Prepare document packs (i.e., drawings, BOM’s, Gerber files) ready to submit to supply chain partners.
  • Prepare and distribute weekly expedite reports to selected supply chain partners, ensuring that all respond, and data is entered into company ERP system
  • Manage selected suppliers to control inventories and ensure timely flow of material.
  • Develop working knowledge of commodities and associated supplier base.

Controls Engineer

An Electronics / Control Systems Engineer is sought by an Engineering company in the Washington area

Working with the Technical Director you will work on the design of electronic components and controls systems for specialist production machinery. You will work with and programme a wide range of control systems including PLCs, servos and vision systems. You will also produce schematics and layouts and work with installation and build teams to ensure they are assembled correctly. You will also fault find, repair and commission equipment when needed both in the workshop and on-site. In addition to this you will work with suppliers and customers to ensure completed systems meet customer specifications.

The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications and experience

  • HNC / Degree in electrical / electronic engineering
  • A high level of computer literacy
  • Experience programming PLCs
  • Experience in Lenze and Mitsubishi PLC

Field Service Engineer

A Field Service Engineer with experience of servicing electronics or instrumentation systems is sought by a growing company in the Tyneside area

The role involves the service, repair and calibration of safety-critical instrumentation systems. Your main responsibilities will include the safe, correct, and efficient preventive and routine maintenance of equipment and machinery, fault diagnosis and repair, installation, testing and commissioning and the disassembling, inspection, cleaning, replacement and re-assembly of mechanical assemblies. You will also be responsible for completing risk assessments, reports, certificates and carry out machinery health checks. You will also liaise with customer about works, suggest (any) remedial actions and feedback and improvement suggestions to the technical team.

The successful candidate will have the following skills and personal qualities: –

  • Electrical/electronic hands-on practical skills
  • Mechanical hands-on practical skills – maintenance experience
  • Appropriate engineering/electrical experience and training such as an apprenticeship
  • Level 3 engineering or technical qualifications (e.g. ONC/NVQ L3/C&G L3)
  • Full clean UK driving licence
  • Ability to pass security clearance
  • A Safety focused approach to service and maintenance activities
  • Able to maintain composure under pressure and meet deadlines
  • IT literate with email and MS suite such as Word and Excel

You will need a practical and proactive approach to time management and problem-solving, be able to travel and stay overnight away from home for up to 1 week at a time (2/3 nights is typical).

This is a field based permanent full-time position. You will spend 80% of your time travelling / on-site and 20% in the workshop. Travel is mainly UK based with occasional European travel and will rarely involve weekends

The package includes a basic salary up to £31000, paid overtime, fully expensed travel, full product training and a benefits package that increases with length of service

This role would ideally suit an experienced multi-skilled maintenance technician/engineer who enjoys travelling and variety in their work, as each day provides its own challenges.
