A Mechanical Design Engineer with good 3D CAD skills is needed to work for a busy manufacturing company in the Gateshead area

YOUR NEW JOB

Working in a small design team you will design enclosures for electrical control systems and use the MRP system to create accurate BOM’s. You will be working on both new and existing product ranges and creating 3D mechanical designs and providing all manufacturing drawings to the operations teams. You will also monitor the progress of all undertaken mechanical design by holding regular design reviews with the aim to speed up product introduction and reduce design change costs. You will also ensure mechanical design solutions are viable and cost effective, utilising all available manufacturing methods

KEY SKILLS

The ideal candidate will have a HNC in Mechanical Engineering or similar discipline and experience of mechanical design of enclosures, fabrications and assemblies. You will need good 3D CAD skills (CREO, Inventor, Solidworks etc) and be able to transfer 3D CAD data into 2D drawing packs and standardise the formats.

You will need to be adaptable, be able to communicate well across departments and work with minimum supervision to agreed timescales. You will have an innovative approach to mechanical design, demonstrate good mechanical engineering knowledge, have good attention to detail and ability to complete fully assigned tasks. You will also need to be able to communicate will with customers and suppliers and be proficient with MRP systems and MS Office

CCTV / Security Systems Service Engineer

A Service Engineer is needed to install, service, test, and commission commercial security systems (CCTV, Intruder Alarms, Access Control etc) throughout the Midlands

Reporting to the Service Manager – you will carry out routine service work on various makes of security systems with installation and refitting. Responsive breakdown callouts are also required from engineers on a rota basis.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Service existing customers systems and install new systems (Galaxy, Texecom, Avigilon, Synetics, Paxton, Salto and Eaton among others)
  • Attend breakdowns to customers sites for reactive maintenance.
  • Test and Commission Products offered by the company.
  • Support the sales team.
  • Liaise with customers on site regarding technical and progress work.
  • Be on call 1 week in 5 as per the company rota

YOUR SKILLS

  • The successful candidate will have previous experience of servicing CCTV, Access Control and Intruder Alarm systems.
  • Ideally qualified to a minimum of C & G Part 1, 2 7 3, HNC/ONC in electrical/electronic engineering.
  • Good diagnostic and fault-finding skills
  • IEE 18th Edition and IPAF preferred
  • Hold a current ECS or CSCS card
  • A Full UK Driving Licence is essential
  • Excellent Communication Skills

YOUR PROFILE

You will need to be a qualified Electrical Engineer with 3-5 years’ experience and an understanding of the UK Defence & Security sector, or other highly regulated sector such as Oil & Gas, Renewables, Rail, Policing etc). Good project management skills and an understanding of the bids and tender process is needed as is a full UK Driving Licence and the ability to gain UK Security Clearance.

In terms of your personal qualities you will need to be energetic, curious, methodical and determined; this role requires the ability to solve a range of technical problems, in hands-on and desktop-based technical work packages. You will also need the ability to present and communicate technical matters and recommendations to management, in clear and concise English, in both writing and orally.

There is some travel to UK-based or international customer sites and you will need to be prepared to do so as company needs dictate

Project Engineer – SCADA / Control Systems

A Project Engineer with experience of delivering SCADA / Control Systems solutions is sought by a Tyneside Engineering business

Working in a Projects team you will be responsible for managing the design, integration, testing and commissioning of automation projects throughout the entire project life-cycle.

Salary is up to £50K + benefits

The role will involve interpreting clients’ requirements, to design, engineer, integrate, test, and deliver the solution in a professional and timely manner, interfacing with customers on all technical elements and schedules and engaging with subcontractors and external suppliers for the delivery of projects.

Key responsibilities will be to: –

  • Designing, installation, commissioning, and maintenance of PLC, SCADA, and HMI systems in automation projects.
  • Produce specifications / drawings and agree with customers.
  • Integrate and configure software, hardware, communications, and external devices.
  • Drive projects to achieve an “on-time” project delivery, within budget.
  • Project engineering, configuration, integration, and test.
  • Assist in the preparation and approvals of bills of materials and manufacturing drawings and where necessary interface with suppliers.
  • Prepare project documentation such as design specifications, factory acceptance tests, site acceptance tests and operation and maintenance manuals.
  • Participate in project meetings and assist in the scheduling of activities.
  • Undertake FAT, SAT, site installation and commissioning activities where necessary.

To succeed in this varied and interesting role you will need the following skills, experience and personal qualities

  • ONC/HNC in Electrical / Electronic / Software Engineering or related subject
  • Proven track record of delivering projects, preferably within SCADA and Automation sectors; ideally within the LV/MV/HV Electricity Transmission & Distribution Industry.
  • Knowledge of communications systems and SCADA protocols such as Modbus, DNP, and IEC 61850.
  • Experience of implementation using PLC logic.
  • Experience of configuration of HMI software
  • Ability to work independently and within a small team environment.

Electrical Site Services Technician

An Electrical Service Technician is needed to service and maintain Transformers and Switchgear on various sites

You will be responsible for delivering after-sales maintenance contracts and customer services and will involve visiting customer sites and conducting the repair, maintenance and upgrade of
customer private networks and their assets.

The role and responsibilities include:
* Assembling distribution transformers and associated items (LV/HV switch, Ring Main Units etc)
* On-site installations.
* Fault finding and resolving after care services and warranty issues with the equipment.
* Completing maintenance activity for both supplied equipment and customers own HV & LV networks and assets.
* Basic site testing requirements of equipment, ensure adherence to standards and ensure safe operation of all devices.

Applicants must be able to demonstrate:
* HNC/ HND or similar qualification in Electrical Engineering
* Ability to work on their own initiative and as part of a small busy team
* Previous history within the Transformer/ HV, LV switchgear/ HV contracting industry
* Self motivated, conscientious and enthusiastic
* Candidates should be highly computer literate with excellent communication skills both in written and verbal format, able to write comprehensive emails, quotations and reports.

The core focus of the role will be to lead all HSE activities throughout the business and deliver a coherent HSE strategy and plan throughout the company

Duties will include

Position Description:

  • Create, develop, implement and sustain the Health, Safety and Environmental Plan
  • Develop and maintain occupational health, safety and environmental systems and procedures based upon approved policy plans.
  • Provide continuing advice, guidance and assistance to Line Management on matters pertaining to occupational health, safety and environmental obligations.
  • Prepare specialised documentation and liaise with external organisations and authorities on all relative matters.
  • Assist in accident investigation and ensure preventative measures are implemented.
  • Manage the group incident, near miss and safety observation management system.
  • Present OH&S statistics and report monthly to senior management and group.
  • Implement action plans and improvement projects though line of sight and other formats to maintain the Company philosophy on OH&S and environmental matters.
  • Statutory and Company Monitoring.
  • Stay up to date with current and upcoming changes in appropriate health, safety and environmental legislation.
  • Give advice on timescales and legal requirements of monitoring in line with current legislation regarding health and safety.
  • Make the necessary changes to procedures in line with legislation amendments.
  • Monitor employee, visitor and contractor behaviour and record all accidents, near misses and safety observations (positive and negative) and record in appropriate system.
  • Co-ordinate medical examinations, hearing tests, return to work programmes Training.
  • Initiate and co-ordinate education and training programmes for works grades so that they may develop their own potential.

To succeed in this role you will need a recognised Health & Safety qualification such as a NEBOSH Diploma or IOSH and have 3-5 years experience in a HSE Management role. You will need a strong knowledge of ISO45001 and ISO14001 standards and experience of delivering HSE strategies and training programmes to internal stakeholders
