Operations Manager

Leading the day-to-day activities of a growing technology manufacturing business and working across multiple sites you will support people to perform at their best through business operations and systems, ensuring the teams are operating effectively, with the right resources to deliver. Your success will be measured by not only the P&L statement, but the culture and morale of the team.

THE OPPORTUNITY

  • General day-to-day business management of the Technical & Engineering Division.
  • Managing, coaching, mentoring and supporting the development of junior managers
  • Setting expectations and holding people accountable.
  • Setting ambitious yet achievable strategic targets
  • Part of the Senior Leadership Team; developing and delivering on strategy, culture, continuous improvements, and goal setting.
  • P&L responsibility of ensuring financial targets are delivered and met.
  • Ensuring your teams are suitably resourced with the correct people in the right role.
  • Having strong, trustworthy and dependable working relationships
  • Effective change management.
  • Analysing current operational processes and performance, recommending solutions for improvement where necessary.
  • Efficiently and effectively collaborating with the Board
  • Integration of acquired businesses technical teams into the company
  • Accurate and timely reporting with data-backed suggestions.
  • uilding, refining and leading multi-disciplinary teams for Divisional excellence, continuous improvement, and innovation, with a focus on collaboration and accountability.
  • Full control and visibility of day-to-day activities of the Division.

YOUR SKILLS

To be successful in the role you will have 3-5 years + experience of operational management within a project -led or bespoke technology-based manufacturing / engineering company. You will have experience of managing, coaching and developing multi-discipline engineering teams including design, engineering, assembly and field service staff. A high level or commercial awareness is essential and you will need to have good communication and interpersonal skills with a firm yet personable & composed leadership style. You will interact significantly with customers and external stakeholders, so a good level or professionalism is essential.

The ability to manage change and deliver improvements is essential as is a high level or personal integrity with strong ethics. You will need to be improvement and detail oriented and be able to plan well and deliver objectives in a timely fashion. A good knowledge of business operations and finance is needed as is experience of contract negotiation and a full Manual UK Driving Licence . You must be able to pass UK security clearance/vetting.

Shift Pattern: Days and Nights – Monday to Thursday Days / Monday to Wednesday Nights

Are you a mechanically minded production professional looking to join a rapidly expanding company with fantastic career progression opportunities?

Long established and looking to expand their operations, this metal and plastic manufacturing company produce high volume products into the construction industry. They are the biggest in their industry and boast a workforce of well over 500 people whilst achieving high retention due to their company culture.

In this role you will oversee the manufacturing processes of plastic extrusion production lines. You will lead by example, develop and train other members of the team and receive full training on these processes. It is not essential you come from a plastic extrusion background if you are mechanically minded and have good leadership qualities.
