  • Nights: £21.70 per hour

The Role

We are currently recruiting for experienced CNC Millers / Horizontal Borers to join a well-established heavy engineering company based in Sheffield.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a growing business working on large, complex precision-engineered components for demanding industries.

You will be responsible for setting, operating and programming large CNC milling and boring machinery using Heidenhain controls, machining a wide range of heavy engineering components to tight tolerances and high quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Set, operate and program CNC milling / boring machines
  • Work on large Elga milling machines
  • Use Heidenhain controls with on-machine programming
  • Machine large castings, forgings and fabrications
  • Work with a variety of materials including:
    • Carbon steel
    • Stainless steel
    • Duplex
    • Copper
    • Titanium
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings
  • Use precision measuring equipment to inspect finished components
  • Work to tight tolerances and customer specifications
  • Carry out self-inspection and quality checks
  • Maintain a safe and organised working environment

What We’re Looking For

  • CNC milling or horizontal boring experience
  • Experience with Heidenhain controls
  • Ability to set and operate CNC machinery
  • Experience reading engineering drawings
  • Good understanding of tooling, offsets and measuring equipment
  • Experience working to tight tolerances
  • Positive attitude and willingness to learn

Highly Desirable

  • On-machine programming experience
  • Heavy engineering experience
  • Experience machining large components
  • Apprentice-trained / time-served background
  • Experience within:
    • Oil & Gas
    • Nuclear
    • Defence
    • Aerospace

Entry-Level / Developing Machinists Welcome

If you currently have experience in:

  • CNC setting
  • Editing programs
  • Operating CNC machinery

but want to progress further into CNC milling or horizontal boring work, training and development opportunities are available.
