An experienced Materials and Welding Engineer is needed to cover a 9-month project in Aberdeen starting in July

THE PROJECT

Working in a multi-disciplinary team you will be responsible for ensuring materials integrity, compliance, and fitness for purpose across a wide range of subsea equipment and systems.

The role involves close collaboration with internal stakeholders including design, manufacturing, quality, supply chain, and project execution teams, as well as external vendors and clients on a global basis.

Your key responsibilities will include

  • Review and interpretation of client specifications, applicable international codes and standards, and field/environmental conditions
  • Development of Material Selection Reports, Corrosion Protection Philosophies, and associated technical documentation
  • Contribution to and support of design reviews, including risk assessments and materials-related technical queries
  • Evaluation and qualification of suppliers and sub-vendors, including review of capabilities, procedures, and compliance
  • Review and approval of manufacturing and fabrication documentation such as WPS/PQRs, ITPs, material certificates, and NDE procedures
  • Technical support to manufacturing and fabrication activities, including shop and vendor interface
  • Assessment and resolution of materials- and welding-related non-conformances, including root cause analysis and corrective action support
  • Input to lessons learned, continuous improvement initiatives, and technical governance activities
  • Support to tendering activities, including technical scope definition and risk assessment

KEY SKILLS

You will be degree qualified in Materials Engineering, Welding Engineering, or a related discipline with significant experience in Subsea Materials Engineering, ideally within an EPC or OEM environment. You will need a strong technical knowledge of welding processes, qualifications, and NDE techniques, be able to manage competing technical priorities across multiple projects and have the ability to interface confidently with clients, suppliers, and internal stakeholders. You will also need to be familiar with international standards such as DNV, ISO, API, ASME, and NORSOK

A NDE Level 3, IWE, or equivalent professional certification would be an advantage as would experience of working on EPC systems and complex project delivery models
