Nursery Manager – 37.5 hours

School Staffing Solutions are recruiting for a Nursery Manager in the early years provision of a school in Rochester, providing care and education for children from 2 years old.

Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced, enthusiastic, and dedicated Nursery Manager to lead the team. The successful candidate will have a passion for early childhood education, strong leadership skills, and the ability to ensure the highest standards of care and learning for all children.
The setting is open 7:30 – 18:30
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the day-to-day operations of the Nursery, ensuring compliance with all statutory and school policies
- Provide inspiring leadership and support to staff, promoting a positive and collaborative team culture
- Oversee the planning and delivery of a stimulating, age-appropriate curriculum in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS)
- Ensure the safety, well-being, and pastoral care of all children in the nursery
- Build strong relationships with children, parents, and staff, maintaining excellent communication and customer service
- Monitor and evaluate the quality of provision, driving continuous improvement
- Manage nursery administration, including staffing rotas, record-keeping, reporting, and all matters relating to nursery funding and fee collection
- Ensure the nursery environment is welcoming, safe, and well-resourced
- To work with the admissions department to manage admissions and tours and ensure a smooth transition for children moving into the Junior School Pre-Reception and Reception classes.
- Act as an ambassador for the school, assisting with marketing initiatives, open days and community engagement to promote the Nursery’s reputation.
- To lead the self-evaluation process, identifying strengths and areas for development to ensure the setting is always ‘Inspection Ready’.
- To lead staff appraisals, supervisions, and identification of CPD ( Continuing Professional Development) needs, fostering a culture of high expectations and professional growth
- To assist the Vice Principal (Junior) in the recruitment and induction of high-quality Early Years practitioners
- To be the DSL ( Designated Safeguard Lead), taking lead responsibility for safeguarding and child protection.
- To maintain accurate, confidential safeguarding records and to liaise with external agencies and the School’s DSL for Safeguarding as required
About You
- Minimum Level 3 qualification in Early Years (EYTS/ Level 5 or above desirable)
- Proven experience in a nursery management or senior supervisory role
- Expert knowledge of the EYFS and relevant legislation
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organisational skills
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
- Ability to work flexibly on a rota basis between 7:30 am and 6:30 pm
- Experience in managing budgets
- Deep commitment to child protection
- Knowledge of local authority funding (desirable)
