A Production Planner is sought by a company in the Washington area to cover a 12 month maternity leave
Working within a busy Production team you will be responsible for production planning activities including works order creation, scheduling and planning controls best practice. You will ensure that work orders are aligned to required ship dates, control of MRP release, daily review of order book, schedule new work accordingly, ensure materials are available prior to work order release and that work orders are completed 2 days prior to ship date.
You will also co-ordinate with the Operations team to ensure customer demand is aligned to available capacity, liaising daily with Shift Supervisor, work closely with Operations to minimise manufacturing inefficiencies through changeovers and line stops and co-ordinate with the materials team to ensure component inventory is controlled and optimised whilst aiming to reduce inventory. You will also implement planning control systems, actively support lean manufacturing initiatives and drive collaborative forecasting between departments and premier customers.
You will need 3 years production planning experience, good knowledge of lean manufacturing techniques and be proficient with MRP / ERP systems & Microsoft Excel. A good understanding of production processes is essential as is a good level of literacy and numeracy. Good cost analysis and product / material flow management skills are also needed.
