SEN Teaching Assistant

  • £70-£85 per day DOE/Salary up to £18,000
  • 8.20am-3.30pm Monday to Friday term time
  • Temp to perm (12 weeks via the agency and then onto a contract)
  • IMMEDIATE START subject to references and DBS check

School Staffing Solutions are looking for someone special who would like to make a difference in the lives of young people. We are looking for a Teaching Assistant to work in school in the SO16 area of Southampton. The school supports children who have social, emotional and mental health needs. Some of whom have experienced trauma and as a result of this is can find it hard being in school and often don’t engage in their learning.

We are looking for someone who is patient and nurturing in their approach and who is also resilient and able to deal with challenging/aggressive behaviour whilst helping the children learn to regulate their feelings and emotions.

Your role as a Teaching Assistant will be working across KS1-2 on a 1:1 basis but also with small groups ensuring that children receive a consistently high quality of education in a safe and stimulating learning environment. You will need to be passionate about guiding children of all abilities to reach their full potential and have a good level of spoken and written English and Maths.

About you:

  • School based experience as a Teaching Assistant role is desirable or experience working with children.
  • Ability to work independently and use initiative
  • Good sense of humour
  • Able to build relationships
  • Resilient and have ‘bounce back’ ability
  • Hard working and reliable
  • Current DBS registered on the update system or willing to apply
