carry out TIG (Tungsten Inert Gas) welding on light steel and aluminium components, producing clean, accurate and consistent welds to the required specifications.
Read and interpret engineering drawings, technical plans and measurements to ensure components are fabricated accurately.
Prepare metal surfaces and components before welding, including cleaning, positioning, aligning and securing materials.
Set up and adjust TIG welding equipment according to material thickness, joint type and job requirements.
Select appropriate welding techniques and settings to achieve strong, neat welds while minimising defects and material distortion.
Inspect finished welds for quality, consistency and accuracy, identifying imperfections and carrying out corrective work where required.
Use measuring tools and inspection methods to verify component dimensions and ensure finished products meet engineering specifications.
Maintain high standards of workmanship, productivity and attention to detail throughout the manufacturing process.
Follow all workplace health and safety procedures, including the safe use of welding equipment and appropriate personal protective equipment.
Work independently to complete allocated tasks while collaborating with colleagues and supervisors to meet production targets and deadlines.
Maintain a clean, organised and safe working area, ensuring tools and equipment are properly maintained.
Identify potential quality issues and report defects, equipment faults or production concerns to the appropriate supervisor.
Adapt to changing production requirements while maintaining consistent weld quality and efficient working practices.
Contribute to a positive team environment through reliability, effective communication and a commitment to continuous improvement.
