As a CAD Design Engineer, you will be responsible for the delivery of new product designs, from the concept stage through to finished products ready for manufacture. Responsible for those product designs achieving tooling feasibility and design for manufacture. Drive creative thinking, ensure customer needs are considered and collaborate with the operations team to ensure products are designed for efficient manufacture.

Key Responsibilities as a CAD Design Engineer:

  • Develop OEM Design concepts, with appropriate CAD systems, to enable the creation of 3D Models to fulfil design / styling / engineering aspirations of our customer.
  • Support the management of all Design activities, where appropriate, including Request for Quotations (RFQs), Design freeze / release, Design Failure Mode Effect Analysis (DFMEA), Production Part Approval Process (PPAP), Design Verification/Product Validation (DV & PV) testing, Engineering testing (RMDV), GD&T where required and Computer-aided engineering (CAE) if appropriate.
  • Develop CAD data exchange protocols with customers, suppliers and other Group companies as required to support all aspects of tool and components design.
  • Liaise closely with all departments to fully understand design requirements.
  • Create and develop design / component feasibility studies.
  • Identify and implement design improvements (functionality, cost, tooling & DFM) within the Feasibility Team and external Tool Makers.
  • Liaise with Purchase Department to ensure effective selection of supplier for manufacture of tooling.
  • Develop and maintain control systems for CAD activities to comply with BS5750 and aspire to ISO9000 design section.
  • Create and keep up-to-date tool specifications which will enable suppliers to make accurate quotations based on known data.
  • Improve reliability performance to reduce or eliminate warrantable issues in the field.
  • Support design in-line with UK/EC/International standards and legislation.
  • Guide & support the design & development team to produce a range of concept design schemes for new products, as well as updating existing product designs for a number of automotive customers.
  • Support the delivery of the People Strategy within area of accountability.
  • Help motivate and coach the team to operational success.
  • Monitor the completion of tasks / good performance and record on appropriate systems.
  • Consistently promote high standards through personal example, demonstrating to the team so that each member of the team understands the standards & behaviours you expect of them.
  • Help guide & support the team in new product development projects.
  • Ensure that the function operates in accordance with HSE policies & procedures to ensure the safety and wellbeing of staff & visitors.

Skills required as a CAD Design Engineer:

  • Educated to degree level in a relevant engineering discipline or equivalent NVQ Level 7 qualification.
  • Member of an industry related Professional Body.

As a Lead Engineer – Test and Validation you will be responsible for leading the Test and Validation department at Polytec UK. This will be a new department and the role will be to expand the team to cover the increasing requirements to support our customers Testing and Validation requirements. It will cover the whole of the process from identifying project costs, understanding customer requirements, generating a test plan to validate the engineering and sourcing and planning the tests with internal and external resource.

Key Responsibilities as a Lead Engineer – Test and Validation:

  • Provide the Test and Validation costs for customer quotes based on the RFQ and corporate requirements.
  • Work with the Engineering Team to ensure test requirements are considered during the development of the production Design.
  • Generate a Test Plan to validate production design – either via CAE or physical testing.
  • Source customer approved Test house to undertake testing.
  • Review with the Project Team the timing and the required part supply to support Testing.
  • Lead the IMDS customer requirements working with the current team in place.
  • Generate a budget for each project and manage planned vs actual spend – identifying any savings and overspend to the Project Team before they occur.
  • Work with the various Project Team functions to ensure the all testing is only for validation and not development.

Skills required as a Lead Engineer – Test and Validation:

  • Educated to degree level (preferably Masters) in a relevant engineering discipline or equivalent NVQ Level 7 qualification.
  • Fellow or Chartered Member of an industry related Professional Body.

  • Ensure you work with the Polytec PEP Process, meeting the Gateway deliverables on time.

As a Manufacturing Engineer you will be responsible for management and development of the current manufacturing processes in operation. Using continuous improvement techniques to identify process changes that can reduce the takt time or operational costs, improve product quality, deliver model year updates across all projects, lead system updates with the fixture supplier and support with lessons learnt from current processes. Key Responsibilities as a Manufacturing Engineer:

  • Provide technical support to the Operations Team using the current production lines to manufacture customers assemblies.
  • Review the current manufacturing process and identify areas of improvement.
  • Manage LOP Lists of issues on current production lines and provide technical solutions to ensure production supply is not affected.
  • Support the delivery of Model Year updates on current production lines
  • Support to Project Management (NPI) and being able to manage multiple short-term tasks to meet the expectations of others in the organisation is a challenging aspect of the position.
  • Manage projects within constraints using recognised methods and systems.

Working hours are 37.5 hours on a rotating double days shift pattern.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES OF A MAINTENANCE ENGINEER:

  • Attend breakdowns, identify faults and problem solve with minimal downtime to production
  • Carry out diagnosis of faults, the maintenance, and repairs to all types of plant and equipment in a safe, timely and professional manner and return equipment to operational service
  • Estimate length of time required to complete a job and likely consequences of failure to complete work within required timescales
  • Identify and escalate any activity that has the potential to cause harm or damage
  • Report breakdown root causes, equipment faults and concerns to management
  • Ensure all work is undertaken to a high standard.
  • Assist in the development of planned preventative maintenance (PPM) schedules
  • Carry out PPM schedules as necessary and planned work orders as required and provide feedback to develop the system
  • Experience with maintaining and fault-finding hydraulics and pneumatics.
  • Experience in electrical maintenance and installation. To include installation of LV Distribution boards and supplies along with controls system installations.
  • Able to read electrical and hydraulic schematics.
  • Willing to turn their hand to any task given, whether mechanical or electrical. Overalls are provided, so be prepared to get dirty
  • Experience with various plant equipment would be advantageous such as compressors. Chillers etc.
  • Assist with the moving, installation, repositioning of machines and equipment
  • Plan and prioritise workload to support production and ensure efficient use of working time
  • Log completion of work on all required maintenance management systems
  • Ensure that contractors are utilised in accordance with company procedures
  • Work within 5S (Sort, Set In Order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain) methodology to maintain workplace to a high standard
  • Ensure all personal protective equipment is identified, always available, correctly used.
  • Ensure all lost time, minor and trivial accidents are reported
  • Promote environmental issues and ensure all company procedures are understood and followed
  • Contribute to continuous improvement activities
  • Ensure a safe working environment exists for self and colleagues, ensuring all health, safety environmental and quality management procedures are followed and achieve the company’s and departmental Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) targets
  • Good verbal and written communication are a must along with the capability to make your own informed decisions.
  • This role may involve shift work, providing breakdown call out cover and some overtime may be required.

SKILLS REQUIRED AS A MAINTENANCE ENGINEER:

  • ONC, A Levels, City & Guilds level 3, BTec National Diploma Level 3, IVQ Technician Diploma or equivalent NVQ level 3 qualification.
  • Completed a recognised indentured level 3 apprenticeship in Engineering Maintenance
  • Completed 18th Edition wiring regulations
  • Experience with maintaining and fault-finding hydraulics and pneumatics.
  • Experience with maintaining and fault-finding electrical equipment.
  • Experience working within automotive or manufacturing environment
  • Installation work, both electrical & mechanical.

Shift: Day, 8h shifts, 5 days a week + Possible optional Overtime

There will be required occasional visits to other sites in Bridgnorth WV15 5HP and Bromyard HR7 4NS

Position Summary:
As the OnSite Coordinator for our automotive manufacture client, the ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing the management and coordination of approximately 80 agency employees working across two 8-hour shifts, both day and night. Daily duties will revolve around staff planning, attendance management, inductions, recruitment, addressing factory-related issues, and ensuring smooth communication and collaboration with the team.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain a strong working relationship with the automotive production client, understanding their staffing needs, and ensuring fulfilment with qualified personnel.
  • Manage a large workforce, overseeing their schedules, ensuring adequate staffing levels for both day and night shifts, and handling payroll processes.
  • Conduct thorough inductions for new hires, providing necessary training and ensuring compliance with safety standards and company policies.
  • Lead recruitment efforts, including sourcing, interviewing, and selecting suitable candidates to meet the client’s requirements.
  • Act as a point of contact for any factory-related issues, addressing concerns promptly and efficiently to maintain a productive work environment.
  • Collaborate closely with both the client and internal teams to ensure seamless operations and timely resolution of any arising issues.
  • Provide regular reports and updates to senior management, highlighting key performance indicators and areas for improvement.
  • Oversee site’s HR and compliance, ensuring adherence to legal regulations and company policies

Role Development:

As part of role evolution, you will:

  • Provide support to new team members.
  • Address and troubleshoot payroll and internal issues.
  • Collaborate with HR to enhance processes and implement new systems.

Required Skills:

  • Driving licence and own car. (Workplace is in Telford TF3 3AH. with occasional visits to Bridgnorth WV15 5HP and Bromyard HR7 4NS )
  • Strong work ethic and commitment customer service,
  • Previous experience in a similar position or within factory management is a plus but not essential.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Exceptional communication skills.
  • Proactive and highly organized approach.
