Field Service Engineer

A qualified HGV mechanic is needed to work as a Field Service Engineer for a well-known National Fleet Engineering company

As a Field Service Engineer you will carry out fault diagnosis, repair, routine maintenance and provide technical support and advice on tankers and HGVs to internal engineering staff, customers and other third party engineering personnel where required. You will also assist the Technical and Sales teams with equipment technical specifications and guidance for the preparation of hire quotations and new vehicle preparation for hires. You will develop relationships with customers to identify opportunities for further service, hire & training revenue and where appropriate identifying new third party repair agents and ensuring they operate to company standards and procedures.

In addition to this you will also field and handle telephone calls from hire fleet customers ensuring that breakdown repairs, and other work conducted at a customer’s request, is carried out safely, minimising both customer inconvenience and asset downtime, use the CMMS to log and schedule servicing and repair work, issuing repair orders to third party repair agents within established rate agreements, maintaining tight expenditure controls on such work. Monitoring orders issued and progressing to a speedy and cost-efficient conclusion and ensure that hard copy and computerised maintenance records of all repair work undertaken, are accurate and complete

The successful Field Service Engineer will be an experienced Field Service Engineer and ideally have worked on HGVs, Tankers & Trailers and be a qualified mechanic. You will need a full driving licence, be computer literate and able to work on your own initiative. Good customer facing skills are essential

The role primarily involves conducting pre-planned & reactive maintenance for an automated cold store facility, operating at minus 23 degrees. You must be able to work at heights up to 42 meters.

Candidates must be time served multi-skilled engineers.

The shift pattern for this role is 42 hours per week pro-rata working 4 on 4 off rotating days and nights.

Hamilton Woods Associates are currently recruiting for an Assistant Engineer for a private sector company, on a full-time, permanent basis. The required hours for the role are 8:30-17:00 Monday-Friday.

Duties and Responsibilities of the Assistant Engineer:

  • Assisting the Senior Engineers with the procurement of new development sites. The work will consist of liaison with utility companies over new supplies and diversions but will also include working with drainage authorities, highway authorities and specialist consultants.
  • Assisting in overseeing the design and detailing for external consulting engineer’s responsible for providing designs for new estate roads and sewers and the designs for foundations.
  • Helping procure service quotes for new developments and liaising with the Commercial Department to place orders with the preferred contractor.
  • Working with other departments to resolve issues on site. This includes areas such as poor performance by utility contractors, liaison with highway and water company inspectors.
  • Supporting with the progress of adoption of historic roads and sewers.
  • Assisting the Senior Engineers to keep the drawing files / vault up to date and ensuring the site teams are issued with the latest drawing information.

Requirements of the Assistant Engineer:

  • Full UK Driving Licence and access to own vehicle is essential
  • A working knowledge of Building Standards and applicable Health, Safety and Environment legislation.
  • Experienced in CAD drawing software packages and engineering software packages
  • Relevant experience in the House Building or Construction industry is desirable.
