Hamilton Woods Associates are currently working with a social housing provider to recruit a Multi Skilled Operative on a temporary basis. There is scope for the role to become permanent. A van and fuel card is provided, with prohibited personal use.

Responsibilities of the Multi Skilled Operative includes:

  • Completing reactive joinery and plumbing work on social housing properties
  • Working on planned jobs in void properties
  • Renovating and re-fitting work tops and kitchen units
  • Fitting skirting boards and architraves
  • Hanging doors
  • Ensuring adherence to health and safety procedures
  • Maintaining van stock
  • Ensuring customer satisfaction
  • Maintaining a clean and working environment within customers’ homes

Essential criteria includes:

  • Full UK Driving Licence

  • Carrying out plumbing work
  • Completing patch plastering
  • Ensuring adherence to health and safety procedures

Essential criteria of the Joiner includes:

  • Willingness to undergo a Basic DBS
  • Full UK Driving License

Multi Skilled Engineer

We’re looking for a proactive and hands-on Multi-Skilled Engineer to join our engineering team. In this role, you’ll play a key part in keeping operations running smoothly by maintaining, troubleshooting, and improving our equipment and systems.

You’ll work closely with production teams, especially during start-up and critical periods, ensuring minimal downtime and optimal performance across the site.


What You’ll Be Doing

As a Multi-Skilled Engineer, you will:

  • Ensure full compliance with Health, Safety, Environmental, and Hygiene standards
  • Diagnose, repair, and resolve equipment faults quickly and effectively
  • Complete planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance tasks
  • Accurately record all maintenance activity, parts usage, and job completion within the CMMS system
  • Support production teams during start-ups and operational challenges
  • Maintain high standards of housekeeping and ensure audit readiness at all times
  • Follow clear and safe engineering handover procedures
  • Work to specification to ensure food safety and quality standards are consistently met
  • Communicate effectively across teams to minimise downtime and maximise efficiency
  • Contribute to continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to reduce cost and improve reliability
  • Participate in risk assessments and promote safe working practices
  • Share knowledge, support colleagues, and contribute to a strong team culture
  • Remain flexible and adaptable to meet changing business and shift requirements

Skills & Experience

Essential

  • Recognised qualification in Mechanical and/or Electrical Engineering
  • Time-served apprenticeship or strong hands-on engineering experience (ideally within FMCG or manufacturing)
  • Experience working with:
    • Hydraulics & Pneumatics
    • Mechanical & Electrical systems
    • PLCs/Inverters (basic fault-finding)
  • Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills
  • Proven commitment to safe systems of work and risk assessment practices
  • Experience working with high-risk equipment and safe isolation procedures
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to prioritise effectively in a fast-paced environment

Desirable

  • Experience with Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) or asset care programmes
  • Knowledge of CMMS systems
  • PLC interrogation or programming experience
  • Understanding of HACCP and food safety systems
  • Experience working with OEM suppliers
  • Continuous improvement or lean manufacturing knowledge

Qualifications

Essential

  • NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Engineering
  • Time-served apprenticeship
  • HNC / equivalent technical qualification
  • 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (or willingness to obtain)
  • Basic Food Hygiene

Desirable

  • Lean / Six Sigma training
  • IOSH / NEBOSH
  • FLT or MEWP certification
