The Opportunity

We are looking for an experienced Electrical Supervisor / Senior Technician to join an established team based from their Colchester depot, supporting a major portfolio of electricity transmission and distribution projects across the UK.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a strong electrical background and hands-on substation experience, ideally within the 11kV-33kV environment.

You will be working for one of the UK’s busiest T&D clients, delivering critical electrical infrastructure projects and playing an important role in the safe and efficient delivery of works on site.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate electrical works across substation and T&D projects.
  • Provide technical leadership and support to site teams and subcontractors.
  • Ensure works are delivered safely, efficiently and to the required quality standards.
  • Read and interpret electrical drawings, specifications and project documentation.
  • Monitor installation, testing and commissioning activities.
  • Carry out inspections and ensure works comply with relevant standards and procedures.
  • Liaise with Project Managers, Site Managers, engineers and client representatives.
  • Assist with planning, sequencing and coordination of site activities.
  • Identify and resolve technical issues on site.
  • Maintain a strong focus on health, safety, quality and environmental requirements.
  • Provide hands-on technical support where required.

About You

We are keen to speak with candidates who have:

  • Strong electrical experience, ideally within T&D, utilities or electrical infrastructure.
  • Previous substation experience.
  • Experience working across 11kV-33kV systems would be highly advantageous.
  • Previous experience as an Electrical Supervisor, Senior Technician, Senior Electrician or similar.
  • A good understanding of electrical installation, maintenance, testing and commissioning.
  • The ability to supervise teams while remaining technically hands-on.
  • Strong communication and organisational skills.
  • A safety-first approach and the ability to work effectively within a site environment.
  • The flexibility to travel to project sites when required.

The Opportunity

Hamilton Woods are partnering with a well-established growing construction business to recruit an Interim Management Accountant for an initial 9-12 month contract.

Operating across multiple live projects, this business has built a strong reputation within the construction sector and is looking to strengthen its finance team during a busy period of growth. This is a hands-on role where you’ll work closely with the Finance Manager and operational teams, providing accurate financial reporting and commercial support to ensure projects are delivered successfully.

This opportunity would suit an experienced Management Accountant who enjoys working in a fast-paced, project-led environment and can quickly add value.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare accurate monthly management accounts in line with reporting deadlines.
  • Produce balance sheet reconciliations, journals, accruals and prepayments.
  • Support month-end and year-end close processes.
  • Prepare project cost reports and provide financial analysis across multiple live construction projects.
  • Assist with budgeting, forecasting and cash flow reporting.
  • Produce detailed variance analysis, identifying risks and opportunities.
  • Business partner with Project Managers and operational teams, providing financial insight and commercial support.
  • Monitor project costs, overheads and profitability against budget.
  • Assist with audit preparation and statutory reporting requirements.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Previous experience producing full monthly management accounts.
  • ACCA, CIMA or ACA qualification (or be actively studying towards qualification).
  • Experience within the construction, housebuilding, engineering or wider project-based sector.
  • Strong understanding of project accounting, cost reporting and financial controls.
  • Excellent Excel skills with the ability to analyse and interpret financial data.
  • Strong communication skills with the confidence to build relationships across finance and operational teams.
  • The ability to work independently and manage competing priorities within a fast-paced environment.
