An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Paint Shop Labourer to join their team on a Temporary to Permanent basis.

The Labourer will cover a permanent day shift:

  • Monday to Thursday 7.30am-4.30pm and Friday 7.30am-12.30pm

.Main Duties:

  • Read and interpret work lists, written instructions and diagrams to support the task at hand
  • Prepping, sanding and abrading, hanging material
  • Wire brush and scrape as necessary to achieve proper surface texture per job specifications
  • Cover surfaces with drop-cloths or tape and paper to protect surfaces during painting
  • Recognise, set up, and operate hand and power tools common to the painting and loading trade
  • Analyse painting specifications, work orders, and material safety data sheets to plan painting and loading needs
  • Prepare all material surfaces to be painted, ensuring that there is no loose or thick scale, slag, rust, moisture, grease, or other foreign matter
  • Mark or tag material with proper job number, piece marks, and other identifying marks as required.
  • Check conditions of trailers to ensure cleanliness, safety and compliance with loading procedures

Painter Role Requirements:

  • Experience as paint shop operative

The Powder Coater will cover a permanent day shift:

  • Monday to Thursday 7.30am-4.30pm and Friday 7.30am-12.30pm

As a Powder Coater, your main responsibilities will be to coat a variety of different engineered parts.

Main Duties:

  • Selecting paint powder from stock and preparing both the spray booth and powder coating guns for each new job
  • Performing frequent change overs of colour
  • Spraying parts of various size and ensuring paint thickness and gloss levels are correct on finished product
  • Maintaining high quality standards at all times for standard and bespoke products
  • Active contribution in maximising plant efficiency
  • Proactive communication with supervisors, managers and Quality Control regarding production, quality and H&S issues
  • Maintaining H&S standards following instructions and wearing of appropriate PPE
  • Regular quality checks including visual and taking measurements
  • Completing paperwork

Role Requirements:

  • Previous experience of working on a busy paint production line Excellent communication

Project Engineer – SCADA / Control Systems

A Project Engineer with experience of delivering SCADA / Control Systems solutions is sought by a Tyneside Engineering business

Working in a Projects team you will be responsible for managing the design, integration, testing and commissioning of automation projects throughout the entire project life-cycle.

Salary is up to £50K + benefits

The role will involve interpreting clients’ requirements, to design, engineer, integrate, test, and deliver the solution in a professional and timely manner, interfacing with customers on all technical elements and schedules and engaging with subcontractors and external suppliers for the delivery of projects.

Key responsibilities will be to: –

  • Designing, installation, commissioning, and maintenance of PLC, SCADA, and HMI systems in automation projects.
  • Produce specifications / drawings and agree with customers.
  • Integrate and configure software, hardware, communications, and external devices.
  • Drive projects to achieve an “on-time” project delivery, within budget.
  • Project engineering, configuration, integration, and test.
  • Assist in the preparation and approvals of bills of materials and manufacturing drawings and where necessary interface with suppliers.
  • Prepare project documentation such as design specifications, factory acceptance tests, site acceptance tests and operation and maintenance manuals.
  • Participate in project meetings and assist in the scheduling of activities.
  • Undertake FAT, SAT, site installation and commissioning activities where necessary.

To succeed in this varied and interesting role you will need the following skills, experience and personal qualities

  • ONC/HNC in Electrical / Electronic / Software Engineering or related subject
  • Proven track record of delivering projects, preferably within SCADA and Automation sectors; ideally within the LV/MV/HV Electricity Transmission & Distribution Industry.
  • Knowledge of communications systems and SCADA protocols such as Modbus, DNP, and IEC 61850.
  • Experience of implementation using PLC logic.
  • Experience of configuration of HMI software
  • Ability to work independently and within a small team environment.
  • Excellent internal and external communication skills
  • Exceptional attention to detail.
  • Be willing to travel for site testing and commissioning work when required.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Can-do’ attitude – enthusiastic and willing to learn.

Buyer

We are looking for a Buyer with a Manufacturing background to cover an 18 month interim appointment in the Sunderland area

Working closely with the Costings and Production teams you will have the following responsibilities

  • Investigate evaluate and introduce new suppliers.
  • Action technical enquiries by providing price and availability to the Costing Team so that they can respond to requests for a quotation from customer / prospective customers
  • Procure materials to meet sample and production requirements.
  • Ensure effective communication channels are used and relationships are built and maintained between Buyer and the supply base, as well as internally on site
  • Ensure material booking in & out procedures are adhered to.
  • Ensure all stock is subjected to regular PI counts in line with current procedure and sufficient to meet external audit requirements.
  • Ensure accurate stock, WIP and finished goods levels are maintained.
  • Ensure all supplier reject material is processed through the MRP system and goods are prepared for return to the supplier as necessary.
  • Maintain and improve the control mechanisms for parts used in production (including effective supplier reject management). Ensure that company inventory records (including parts used in production, WIP and Finished Goods) are of the highest integrity through the use of perpetual inventory (PI) procedures.
  • Gather in comparable quotes for other goods and services for the site
  • Ensure supplier purchase orders & schedules are issued in line with manufacturing and customer requirements (MRP or Kanban demand triggers).
  • Try to anticipate supplier difficulties, taking appropriate action to prevent shortages.
  • Control and reduce costs from defective suppliers, advising them immediately of discrepancies, ensuring the replacement of rejected items speedily.

The successful candidate will have previous purchasing experience within a manufacturing / engineering environment. Good supplier appraisal and development skills are needed as is a good level of experience of MRP systems. A full driving licence is also needed as there are occasional supplier visits. Good negotiation and communication skills are essential.
