What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Installing, maintaining, and servicing large water pumps used in fire suppression systems including wall mist solutions.
  • Applying your knowledge of fire prevention systems (sprinklers included) to ensure everything is running at peak performance.
  • Working across commercial sites, maintaining water pipes, pumps, and associated equipment.
  • Aiding with both reactive and planned maintenance tasks, ensuring minimal disruption to client operations.

What Our Client is Looking For:

  • Experience: At least 2 years of hands-on experience with large water pipes, pumps, or fire suppression systems within commercial buildings.
  • Skills: You should have worked with large water pumps and fire suppression systems. If you’ve got experience with sprinklers or mist systems too – great!
  • Background: you’ll come from a commercial mechanical background of installation and fixing of large water pipes/pumps, if you’ve also got a bit of electrical M&E experience, that’s a bonus.
  • Location: They’re looking for someone based within the Birmingham area.
  • Clearance: You’ll need to pass an enhanced level 1 background check, so a clean record is essential.
  • Driving: A full UK driving licence with no more than 6 points (for insurance purposes).

We are looking for a qualified Electrical Technician to work on a variety of sites to deliver after-sales, maintenance contracts and customer services on Power Transmission and Distribution equipment. The role primarily is visiting customer sites and conducting the repair, maintenance and upgrade of customer private networks and their assets. The role will be mainly site based with regular office visits. The role and responsibilities include:

Assembling power transmission and distribution equipment and associated items (LV/HV switch, Ring Main Units etc) on site installations. You will also carry out fault finding and resolving after care services and warranty issues with the equipment, complete maintenance activity for both supplied equipment and customers own HV & LV networks and assets

You will also carry out basic site testing requirements of equipment, ensure adherence to standards and ensure safe operation of all devices and provide breakdown support to Customers as required

You will also work and collaborate alongside other contractors whilst on site, complete site reports for work conducted, ensuring method and risk assessments are completed and followed as necessary

The ideal candidate will either be a time-served electrical technician or be HNC/ HND or similar qualified in Electrical Engineering, be able to work on their own initiative and as part of a small busy team. Any knowledge of HV or LV Power equipment would be a strong advantage

You must have a full UK Driving Licence and be willing to work away on customer sites

Working as part of a supportive and flexible projects team your main responsibilities will be i focused around delivering projects across the South of England

Your main responsibilities will involve commercial delivery, design management, scheduling and resource / site management. Key tasks will include: –

  • Obtaining quotes from supply chain and improve on quotations where possible with discount or competitive tender and organise and order all materials required for the project.
  • Liaise with suppliers regularly to ensure delivery dates are achieved.
  • Schedule all labour for projects – covering all structural, electrical, cleaning and commissioning tasks.
  • Manage design process communication – obtain drawings from client.
  • Organise ‘as-built” drawings for end of project and issue to client with O&M
  • Compile project schedule in MS Project and issue weekly alongside reports
  • Manage and supervise sub-contracted resource to meet agreed timelines and ensure any variations, if required, are passed directly on to client.
  • Manage suppliers to ensure goods are delivered on time and to agreed quality standard.
  • Manage complaints if necessary.
  • Responsibility for site Health & Safety and CDM compliance
  • Management of site to include waste management, hire equipment, materials storage, tool storage and charging, site welfare, parking and signing-in process.
  • Organise RAMS from sub-contracted labour and suppliers
  • Conduct monthly site walkaround and agree invoice schedule with client.

YOUR SKILLS

The successful candidate will need a proven track record of successful delivery of complex projects within Cleanrooms, building services, M&E based construction projects (preferably of over £1M in value) and of delivering multiple projects at one time and managing own workflow. You will need to be able to read and correctly interpret CAD drawings, Bills of Quantities / Materials and be able to manage staff and subcontractors to ensure time and budget are met. You will need to be proficient with MS Project / Office and have excellent communication skills

An Engineering qualification and experience of AutoCAD or Revit would be an advantage

This is a fully remote role with one day in the office, 2/3 days on site and 1/2 days working from home. Salary to £65,000 p/a with bonuses and benefits (depending on experience and qualifications)
