  • Conducting inspections at various production stages

We are seeking skilled Manual Millers and Manual Turners to operate XYZ machines and perform manual milling and turning operations on various materials including mild steels, stainless steel, aluminium, tool steels, copper, brass, bronze, nylons, plastics, and insulating materials. The successful candidates will work closely with the Engineering Manager to ensure customer requirements are met efficiently and accurately.

For Manual Miller:

  • Operate, program, and maintain CNC machines to machine parts according to specifications
  • Set up and adjust machine settings to ensure proper functionality
  • Monitor machine operations to detect any issues or malfunctions
  • Perform quality control checks to ensure parts meet required standards
  • Assemble and package finished products for shipment
  • Utilize hand tools and other equipment as necessary for production tasks
  • Follow health & safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized work area

For Manual Turner:

  • Perform turning operations on centre lathes to produce precision metal components
  • Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications to determine machining requirements
  • Select appropriate cutting tools, attachments, and work holding devices for each job
  • Adjust machine controls to ensure proper cutting speeds, feeds, and depths of cut
  • Monitor machining process and make adjustments as necessary to maintain quality and productivity
  • Perform routine maintenance on machines and tools, including sharpening and replacing cutting tools
  • Inspect finished parts using precision measuring instruments to verify dimensions and tolerances

Experience:

  • Experience in manual milling or turning operations

A Mechanical Design Engineer with experience of designing pumps, rotating equipment or high-pressure hydraulic systems is needed by a successful engineering company

A Mechanical Design Engineer with experience of using CMM equipment and the ability to produce designs by reverse engineering legacy / obsolete products & equipment is sought by a growing North East based company

You will work with a variety of clients producing technical solutions to complex engineering projects, the main focus being on providing a full reverse engineering package for parts. You will report directly to the Engineering Manager whilst supporting a busy production team, as a Reverse Design engineer you will capture detail from damaged, worn out and obsolete rotating equipment via various 3D scanning methods, then create models from captured date leading to 2D drawings for manufacture or repair.

Key responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:

  • Use 3D scanning technology to create 3D CAD models from complex samples
  • Produce 3D models using a portable CMM (Faro Arm) and portable white light laser scanner
  • Using customer information/samples to create 3D models
  • First principal measuring to create 3D models
  • Produce 3D models and drawings in Solidworks
  • Build full digital models of with all mating features to establish fits and clearances
  • Preparing design documentation for production (component design, technical drawings)
  • Contributing to design reviews

The ideal candidate will be an experienced Design Engineer with a strong understanding of manufacturing processes including casting, forging, machining, and metal fabrication. What you will be doing?! Set up component manufacturing equipment (including EHRT, Plating line, and power presses), and product production areas, to ensure it is run efficiently and effectively to meet requirements. Maintain a safe, orderly, and clean work area.

Ensure safe working practices are carried out at all times. Ensure that all components and products are stored tidily and correctly identified. Accurately maintain production records, product records, and other records.

Maintain machinery and equipment as required by TPM programs. Alert the Production Manager or other appropriate staff of any plant or equipment maintenance issues. Take an active part in all team working and continuous improvement initiatives.

The use of hand-vibrating tools may be required. Ear, eye, and face protection and other PPE may need to be worn. Manual handling will be required.

We are currently recruiting for a Plater / Welder for our client based in Sheffield (S9)

Salary £15.50 – £17.00 per hour based on experience
Overtime after 40 hours worked.
Saturday paid at time & half / Sundays paid at double.

Shifts are:
Monday – Friday
06.30am – 16.00pm

The ideal candidate will be experienced and trained Plater Welder to a good standard of workmanship and ideally, be flexible to work on a variety of material.

Skills Required:

  • TIG welding experience- required
  • MIG and MMA/STICK – desirable but not essential
  • Experience of working on medium to heavy engineering fabrications.
  • Reading of, engineering GAs and detailed drawings, to a high standard.
  • Marking out, drilling, cutting, bending rolling and various types of welding.
  • All welding will be qualified and tested to our standards in house.
