The Role

You’ll be working on large CNC and manual machine tools, carrying out:

  • Installation & commissioning
  • Service, maintenance & breakdowns
  • Machine alignment & fault diagnosis
  • Gearbox and machining head work (including bevel gear meshing)

This is a customer-facing role, working across:

  • Small precision engineering shops
  • Large blue-chip manufacturing sites

Travel across the UK (South Wales to Scotland)
Occasional international travel (USA / France)

What We’re Looking For

  • Strong background in machine tool servicing (CNC & manual)
  • Confident with mechanical fitting, alignment, and fault finding
  • Experience with:

o Machine tool alignment (key skill)
o Gearbox / bevel gear setup (key skill)

  • Able to read engineering drawings & schematics

Overview
We are seeking a skilled CNC Mill/Turn Programmer, Setter & Operator to join our clients production team in Brighouse. This role is ideal for an experienced machinist who can work independently, program from drawings and produce precision components to the highest standards.

Working Hours

  • Monday to Thursday: 8:00am – 4:30pm
  • Friday: 8:00am – 12:15pm
  • 36.75 hours per week

Salary

  • £16.00+ per hour (negotiable depending on experience)

Key Responsibilities

  • Program, set and operate Mill/Turn CNC machines
  • Produce components from engineering drawings to finished parts
  • Work to tight tolerances in a high-precision environment
  • Manufacture small batch and one-off components

CNC 3 Axis Operator

Major Recruitment Oldbury are delighted to be recruiting for a professional engineering organisation who are seeking a 3 Axis CNC Operator to join their busy Darlaston site.

Duties and tasks will include:

  • Set up and operate 5 Axis Hurco’s and a ROEDER using setting sheets.
  • Conversational program, set up and operate Hurco 5-AXIS to produce precise components to specification using WinMax software at the console.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings.
  • Check your own work using a range of measuring equipment.
  • Completing one offs and batch work.
  • Ensure that production requirements are met in line with the production schedule.
