Key Responsibilities

Reporting to the Engineering Team Leader, you will:

  • Respond rapidly and effectively to equipment breakdowns, identifying and resolving faults
  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) to reduce downtime
  • Support capital projects and site improvements, including machinery changeovers and contractor management
  • Maintain equipment availability, ensuring spare parts are ordered and stock levels are adequate
  • Communicate clearly with production and other departments to coordinate engineering activities
  • Ensure all work is completed to the highest safety standards and in compliance with legislation
  • Mainly working on conveyor and slicer machines.

What You’ll Bring

  • City & Guilds or equivalent in electrical/mechanical engineering (minimum requirement)

Given the hazardous chemical nature of the working environment within the business, the overall risk control strategy will usually require instrumentation & control technicians to be familiar with, and work within, a formal Permit to Work (PTW) system.

Compliance with a specific company or site Safety Management System (SMS) will also be required. Instrumentation & control technicians will be expected to have knowledge and experience of fire and gas detection, process safety protection systems and emergency shut down systems.

About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Continuous Improvement (CI) Engineer with a proven track record of delivering impactful CI projects. This role goes beyond technical support-you will take the lead in driving initiatives that significantly enhance our manufacturing processes.

Joining our clients well-established manufacturing organisation, you will receive a competitive salary of £45,000 per annum, a comprehensive benefits package, and a bonus scheme.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and deliver Continuous Improvement (CI) projects across various departments to enhance productivity and efficiency.
  • Identify opportunities for improvement within the manufacturing process and implement effective solutions.
  • Apply Lean, Six Sigma, and other CI methodologies to reduce waste, improve processes, and optimize operations.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure successful project implementation.
  • Monitor, measure, and report on project performance, ensuring CI initiatives meet set objectives.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in delivering CI projects within a manufacturing environment.
  • A minimum of 3-5 years of industry experience in a similar role-this position is not suitable for recent graduates.
  • Strong knowledge of CI methodologies such as Lean, Six Sigma, and related tools.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels.
  • A proactive mindset with the ability to identify improvement opportunities and implement solutions effectively.
