We are looking for a Workshop based Service Engineer with a good Mechanical Fitting background to work for an established North East company

You will be tasked with performing the following: repair, service and assembly of all types of pipeline products and ancillaries in line with standard operating procedures. You will also be responsible for the maintenance of relevant documentation of all the work carried out, using computerised systems. Workshop activity accounts for 90% of your work and the remaining time will be spent at customers’ locations anywhere in the UK/ overseas.

KEY SKILLS

We are seeking candidates with a craft apprentice training in Mechanical Engineering fitting, qualified to Level 3 (BTEC / ONC) or higher with several experience in a service-oriented hands-on fitting / maintenance environment. Experience of working with pipeline components, pressure equipment, valves or actuators would be a strong advantage and having some machining experience would be desirable.

A valid driver’s licence is essential and you will need to be responsive to after-hours issues when necessary, adopting a flexible approach to work.

You will also need:

  • A strong troubleshooting background, mechanical & computer aptitude, and logical way of thinking to isolate problems.
  • Develops strong trusting relationships to gain support and achieve results.
  • Strong interpersonal and English-speaking communication skills.
  • Be flexible and available to interact with customers as required.
  • Be able to take the initiative, capable of working alone as well as contributing to a strong team-work ethic.

Senior Fabricator / Setter

Major Recruitment are looking for an experienced Senior Fabricator/Setter to join a growing team with our prestigious client in Daventry.

37.5 hours/ week
Automotive/Aerospace experience essential

Your responsibilities as a Senior Fabricator/Setter will include:

  • Setting up all plant and machinery to works order in advance of operator becoming free
  • Check roots, work instructions and SOP’s are available and correct
  • Ensure operators are trained and risk assessed before embarking on task
  • Ensure operators are competent in all tasks
  • Ensure 1st off is correct and sign off works order
  • Ensure all instructions and tools are available for operators to make good parts
  • Ensure operator knows time to complete task
  • Ensure operator clocks onto the task correctly
  • Return to operator after planned time period to sign off last off
  • Report any issues and reasons why operators could not complete works order to correct time and required quality
  • Operate production equipment
  • Carry out cleaning and basic maintenance of work areas and the machines
  • Report equipment faults to maintenance staff

JOB SUMMARY

Required to carry out vehicle electrical installation work on a wide range of HGV based Fire and Rescue Vehicles. The work involves adhering to customer specifications precisely and within set time scales. Often the work must be carried out at high levels and, additionally, from low levels and inspection pits.

MAIN AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY (non-exhaustive)

  • Installation of low voltage (12/24v systems) including major controls boards, fuse boxes and harnesses.
  • Installation of aftermarket including CCTV systems, tyre pressure monitoring and VDS systems.
  • Installation of Fire Service specialist equipment including LED lamps, light bars, siren systems and pump control panels.
  • Installation of mains electrical systems (240v) including chassis battery cables, battery charging and ‘jump start’ systems, auxiliary batteries and RCD/MCB circuits.
  • Installation of CANbus systems including controllers, control screens and telematics systems; a working knowledge of CAN is desirable.
  • The ability to follow engineering drawings.
  • Be competent to use hand tools, including soldering and crimping as part of the role. minimum requirement.
  • There may be occasions when you are required to work in other workshop departments.
