Major Recruitment are proudly working in partnership with a large UK based FMCG organissation in search for a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer within their busy manufacturing facility. The role focuses on both proactive and reactive maintenance, ensuring machinery downtime is minimised while also contributing to ongoing improvements across the site, including machinery upgrades, hygiene standards, product quality, and overall performance.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience within FMCG or food production is desirable, but strong hands-on Electrical Engineering experience will also be considered

  • Strong knowledge of current UK electrical regulations

  • Experience working with industrial electrical systems (essential)

  • PLC diagnostic capability (no programming required)

  • Understanding of continuous improvement principles, tools, and techniques

  • Strong problem-solving skills with a methodical and accurate approach

  • Confident and clear communicator

  • Good understanding of customer requirements and the implications of equipment failure

  • Flexible, adaptable, and proactive attitude to tasks

  • Knowledge of Root Cause Analysis

  • Self-motivated with strong initiative and ownershi

  • Completed apprenticeship in a relevant Electrical and Mechanical engineering discipline

About the Role

We are recruiting a Packaging Technologist for a leading organisation in the food industry. This hands-on role supports the development and optimisation of packaging across a fast-paced manufacturing environment. You’ll be involved in NPD, artwork management, operational troubleshooting and continuous improvement to ensure packaging meets consumer, customer and technical needs.


Key Responsibilities

Packaging Development & Artwork

  • Manage design house relationships and support artwork best practice

  • Improve print processes and reprographics quality

  • Create cutter guides, brief artwork and coordinate packaging redesigns

  • Oversee film changeovers for new and existing SKUs

NPD Support

  • Support packaging development for new product launches

  • Attend production trials and ensure packaging meets transit and quality standards

  • Manage FTP timelines and packaging introduction on site

Operational & Technical Support

  • Resolve day-to-day packaging issues with QA and Operations

  • Develop knowledge of materials to improve line efficiency and product performance

Compliance & Documentation

  • Ensure packaging is legally compliant, fit for purpose and correctly specified

Cost & Innovation

  • Deliver packaging cost-saving and rationalisation projects

  • Build relationships with suppliers and stay informed on industry trends and innovations


Decision-Making & Scope

You will influence decisions around packaging specifications, film types, design changes and machine settings.
Scope: Local (UK/I)

  • Experience in packaging development (food industry or FMCG ideal)

  • Strong artwork/print development and project management skills

  • A proactive problem solver with excellent communication skills

  • Understanding of packaging legislation, materials and reprographics

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate Oddy machines to prepare and bake bakery products to the highest standard.

  • Manage the production process to ensure all goods are baked, finished, and packaged on time.
