About the Role

We are recruiting a Packaging Technologist for a leading organisation in the food industry. This hands-on role supports the development and optimisation of packaging across a fast-paced manufacturing environment. You’ll be involved in NPD, artwork management, operational troubleshooting and continuous improvement to ensure packaging meets consumer, customer and technical needs.


Key Responsibilities

Packaging Development & Artwork

  • Manage design house relationships and support artwork best practice

  • Improve print processes and reprographics quality

  • Create cutter guides, brief artwork and coordinate packaging redesigns

  • Oversee film changeovers for new and existing SKUs

NPD Support

  • Support packaging development for new product launches

  • Attend production trials and ensure packaging meets transit and quality standards

  • Manage FTP timelines and packaging introduction on site

Operational & Technical Support

  • Resolve day-to-day packaging issues with QA and Operations

  • Develop knowledge of materials to improve line efficiency and product performance

Compliance & Documentation

  • Ensure packaging is legally compliant, fit for purpose and correctly specified

Cost & Innovation

  • Deliver packaging cost-saving and rationalisation projects

  • Build relationships with suppliers and stay informed on industry trends and innovations


Decision-Making & Scope

You will influence decisions around packaging specifications, film types, design changes and machine settings.
Scope: Local (UK/I)

External: Suppliers, Customers, Chefs, Campden BRI, Industry Bodies (e.g., WRAP)


What We’re Looking For

  • Experience in packaging development (food industry or FMCG ideal)

  • Strong artwork/print development and project management skills

  • A proactive problem solver with excellent communication skills

  • Understanding of packaging legislation, materials and reprographics

My Client based in the Wednesbury area are currently recruiting for an experienced Surface/Form Grinder.

As the Surface/Form Grinder you will be working within a high-pressure machining environment, meeting deadlines and using you initiative to overcome problems, resolving production issues.

Pay – £15/ph – £16/ph + overtime

40 hours a week Monday to Thursday 6am – 6pm

Major Recruitment Oldbury are delighted to be recruiting for our Wednesbury based client who are seeking an experienced Quality Inspector/ Engineer to join their busy quality team. The role is on a four day working week of Monday to Thursday 6am to 4.30pm.

Duties and tasks will include:

  • Complete first off and last off checks using mechanical measuring equipment, acting as the release signatory for manufacturing components.
  • Run existing CMM programs on our Mitutoyo CNC CMM’s.
  • Have excellent communication skills and be able to relate inspection findings back to Engineers in a clear and concise manner.
  • Be able to read Engineering Drawings and have a working knowledge of Geometrical Dimensioning & Tolerancing.
  • Be able to work to inspection plans and use their own initiative to solve problems.
  • Be able to work as part of a team.
  • Take ownership of the Engineering Change Notification process.
  • Ensure calibration of equipment is completed in a timely manner
  • Support our Production Engineers in the development of high accuracy processes, taking ownership of the controls section in relation to Method of Manufacture.
  • Support our Quality Engineers with the creation of inspection plans.

Duties and tasks will include:

  • Offline programming of production parts to allow seamless transition into manufacturing
  • Creation of method of manufacture and tooling plans
  • Liaising with external vendors to maximise technologies and improve existing processes.

  • Ability to program offline with knowledge of 5 axis is essential
  • Knowledge of Cad / Cam systems and Hypermill & Edgecam in particular are key skills
  • Experience in machining, specifically high precision engineering

  • A desire to improve processes and challenge the status quo is a must
  • Experience of machining graphite would be considered a significant advantage
