This is an exciting opportunity for the successful General Operatives to work with a supplier within a number of industries that include, Agriculture, Infrastructure and Construction that have been established for over 40 years, due to a period of organic growth they are now looking for general operatives to join their existing teams where duties will include:

  • Operating of fixed plant equipment
  • Operating screening machines
  • Operating milling machinery
  • Ensures adherence to and compliance with, both company standards and those of the 9001, 14001 and 18001 company accreditations
  • Operating FLT, overhead crane & loading shovel (training will be offered to the right candidate)
  • Working within the health and safety guidelines of a busy production and manufacturing site

It is expected that they successful candidates will have experience of working within a similar role and:

  • Have experience of operating basic machinery (training will be offered)
  • Be comfortable working on a dusty site
  • Be responsible for the day-to-day operation of equipment as designated to ensure the safe and efficient operation of that Works.
  • Operate plant in an environmentally responsible manner and comply with company procedures and statutory regulations.
  • Take part in training for all personnel as needed by both the companies and legal requirement

As part of the Transport Team, you will be responsible for making deliveries between depots in HGV Class 1 vehicle.

Hours:

This is an exciting opportunity to work as a key part of the Streetworks coordination team undertaken on the highway network.

  • The Greater Manchester Road Activity Permit scheme ensures that access is managed in a way which ensures that essential works can be carried out whilst minimising disruption to road users and public transport operators of the highway.

This role would suit someone who is highly organised, is able to deal confidently with other organisations and has a good working knowledge of New Roads and Streetworks Act 1991 legislation and Traffic Management Act 2004.

Main duties and responsibilities:

  • Co-ordinate and plan the availability of the road space for use by Statutory Undertakers and Trafford Highway Authority by receiving, assessing and determining applications for use of the highway and including the checking and agreement of all traffic management proposals for any work on the highway including footways and cycleways. Give direction to consultants, contractors and the Highway Authority and provide advice and sharing knowledge of the highway network.
  • Manage complex works across boundaries internally and with other Highway Authorities including National Highways
  • Encourage the use of collaborative working amongst all works promoters to ensure One Trafford meets its Network Management Duty.
  • Process data for the co-ordination of roadworks using Symolgy operating GMRAPS & Streetmanager IT systems and for the inspection of sites as required under the NRSWA and TMA.
  • Undertake NRSWA Inspections, evaluate temporary traffic management drawings, licencing of skips, scaffolds, hoardings, tables and chairs licences. Section 50 works, Section 115E licences and sewer connections.
  • Liaise with the Streetworks Coordinators and undertake any associated enforcement to assist with these functions processing Section 74 fines, FPNs and Section 81 apparatus defects.
  • Carry out day to day general administration duties regarding street works coordination and investigate and respond to enquiries, complaints and queries raised by staff and customers. You will also be expected to undertake any other duties, associated with this role.

A vehicle will be provided for use during working hours.
