Responsibilities:-

  • Carry out fault finding and diagnostics in emergency breakdown situations
  • Provide technical support in a professional manner
  • Take on an active role in generating ideas for improvement
  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance activities to maximise plant reliability
  • Undertake emergency electrical and mechanical breakdown repairs
  • Contribute towards system/process improvements
  • Implement best practice H&S measures
  • Assume responsibility for contractor control on site

Skills and experience:-

  • Mechanically competent with a systems and control bias
  • A strong understand of Electrical control wiring diagrams
  • PLC experience, PLC fault diagnosis
  • Willingness to learning new techniques and technology
  • Recognised apprenticeship or equivalent in either Mechanical (level 2+) or Electrical (Level3) Engineering
  • Qualified to ideally 18th edition wiring regulations
  • Pneumatics, hydraulics experience
  • Previous experience of electrical maintenance within a processing or manufacturing environment
  • Experience of using Pirana /Shire (CMMS Systems) – full training will be provided

Manufacturing Engineer

Major Recruitment are working in partnership with Polytec, a leading automotive manufacturer to recruit a Manufacturing Engineer on a permanent basis to join their Engineering Team. The role will be permanent and cover 2 sites, Telford and Bridgnorth.

Working hours of a Manufacturing Engineer are 40 hours per week.

As a Manufacturing Engineer you will be responsible for new product integration to production (pre-series to series, integration of process engineering (methods) into mainstream manufacturing – in terms of process, layout, capital expenditure, installation and commissioning, this includes maintenance of line of existing product designs, product litigation support.

Key duties of a Manufacturing Engineer

  • Provide technical support to the project management function, feasibility function, manufacturing management and others as required on product designs and manufacturing capability of ancillary, bespoke and/or outsourced product fabrication.
  • Manages and develops processes to utilise worldwide design / process management & optimisation.
  • Coordinate implementation of major design changes or product enhancements (with the rest of the organisation’s needs). Specifically, manufacturing, purchasing, and computer support systems (ie. BOM Management) must all be coinciding at the release of an NPD project or design change in order to effectively implement the change.
  • Key Contribution to technical initiatives (i.e. Tooling Concepts, Component Design, Material Selection, Process Selection) geared towards improving the effectiveness of the technical team. Provides support to front line sales overseeing presentations.
  • Manage production integration projects from pre-series to series production

Skills required as a Manufacturing Engineer

  • HND or HNC qualification in Engineering
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in manufacturing/launch engineering
  • Project Management/Automation Process Flows/SAP/CAD experience
  • Product design- end to end
  • Extensive knowledge of manufacturing processes
  • Able to manage production integration/work instructions and calculation of timings.
