Key responsibilities:

  • To ensure that all Company quality parameters and procedures are complied with and that all products manufactured meet the required standards and specifications.
  • To assess raw material specification data against Company and retailer requirements, requesting further detail and clarification from suppliers where necessary before approving it for use to produce finished product specifications.
  • To complete finished product specifications for retailer and branded products, ensuring accurate information is provided for customer use and on pack information.
  • To work closely with a range of internal departments and suppliers to gather information, and to interpret this data to complete specifications in compliance with Company standards.
  • To conduct reviews of artwork to ensure accuracy of legal labelling information.
  • To update the Company’s specifications database.
  • To keep updated with current and forthcoming legislation to ensure that the Company’s products conform to relevant legal requirements.
  • To work with the Company’s internal recipe management system and customer web-based systems.
  • To work with the Senior technical team in relation to supplier audits and associated documentation and systems.
  • To take part in the supplier approval process, assessing approval documentation and providing reasoned judgement to colleagues when necessary.
  • To ensure that the Company is professionally always represented, both inside and outside the business.
  • To protect the health, safety and welfare of the jobholder and others always.
  • To take an active role in continuously developing the job-holder’s skills and knowledge through self-development activities and/or through attending Company organised training and development opportunities
  • To respond to ad hoc requests and/or take an active role in specific projects as directed by the job-holder’s line manager.

Major Recruitment are seeking Auto Electricians to carry out vehicle electrical installation work on a wide range of HGV based Fire and Rescue Vehicles. The work involves adhering to customer specifications precisely and within set time scales. Often the work must be carried out at high levels and, additionally, from low levels and inspection pits. A full training programme will be completed before moving onto rotating shifts.

MAIN AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY (non-exhaustive)

  • Installation of low voltage (12/24v systems) including major controls boards, fuse boxes and harnesses.
  • Installation of aftermarket including CCTV systems, tyre pressure monitoring and VDS systems.
  • Installation of Fire Service specialist equipment including LED lamps, light bars, siren systems and pump control panels.
  • Installation of mains electrical systems (240v) including chassis battery cables, battery charging and ‘jump start’ systems, auxiliary batteries and RCD/MCB circuits.
  • Installation of CANbus systems including controllers, control screens and telematics systems; a working knowledge of CAN is desirable.
  • The ability to follow engineering drawings.
  • Be competent to use hand tools, including soldering and crimping as part of the role. minimum requirement.
  • There may be occasions when you are required to work in other workshop departments.
  • Be aware of and adhere to the Company’s Health and Safety Policy.
