Skillection are working with their precision engineering client assisting them in the recruitment of an Apprentice trained / time served or equivalent CNC Programmer (Mazak Nexus Mill/Turn programmer/setter) to join their team.

The successful CNC Programmer (Mazak Nexus Mill/Turn programmer/setter) will be:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for cnc programming, setting and operating of mill turn machines.
  • Programming to customer drawings.
  • Ability to producing finished components to quality requirements.
  • Preferably experienced in Fanuc / Mazak or Siemens controls
  • To attend and complete any training courses if required.
  • Experience of working with small batches and single components
  • Can work to tight limits in a high precision environment.
  • Workshop Housekeeping.

Skills & Competencies

  • Should have a strong background in CNC Turning using live tooling.
  • Previous experience of working with either Fanuc / Mazak or Siemens with live tooling.
  • Able to work to engineering drawings with minimum supervision.
  • Experience of various machine controls.
  • Able to complete tasks using own initiative.
  • Willingness to comply with all HSQE requirements and procedural controls.
  • Strong housekeeping and continuous improvement ethic.
  • Strong team member and willing to assist wherever required.
  • Skilled in manual handling

The Key objectives of the Toolroom Technician is to ensure that all tools are maintained and improved where required. To support production to ensure that products are manufactured in an efficient way and in line with all appropriate quality and safety standards. To take part in improvement activities to support the business in being more successful.

Toolroom Technician Key Accountabilities

  • To maintain tools and production equipment
  • To correctly identify tooling issues and to work with other team members to resolve these when it looks as though a more serious problem might be developing
  • To take part in improvement activities
  • To behave in a manner that is safe and that promotes good manufacturing practice
  • To work with team members to improve the effectiveness of the change-over processes

Toolroom Technician Essential Requirements

  • To understand all safety rules
  • To understand all quality rules
  • To be able to maintain tooling and production equipment
  • Carry out servicing on current tooling and production equipment
  • Experienced in setting and operating lathes, milling machines, surface grinders and other workshop equipment
  • To implement and understand TPM and improvement processes
  • To liaise with visitors as necessary
  • Ability to work under own initiative as well as part of a team
  • Experience in tool manufacturing
  • Experience gained within a similar working environment
  • Experience with CNC milling and turning using XYZ machines
  • Power press and metal forming equipment

Desirable Requirements

  • Experience in maintaining press tools, rolling and forming tools
  • To take part in the Health and Safety Committee or other representation roles as and when required
